I'm curious as to why more people arent responding. I am pretty sure more people have eibachs than the few posting in this thread, are the others just not having any issues at all with theirs??

If it is in fact an INSTALL issue, where did the people not having any issues get them done?? Were they installed with wirewrap?

I think there are a few of us that would like advice before we buy.

thanks,

It's not an install issue and it's not a strut issue. I have been stumped on trying to get this resolved. If anyone finds a resolution let us know.

well i have the same problem you are having with the popping sound. when i go slow and turn or go over bumps slow i hear it. I have a 04 maxima and put the Pro kit on it. i took it back to the place that installed it and all they had to do was lubricate the damper. apparently if it isnt properly lubricated the spring rubs against it and makes that poping sound. that took care of the drivers side, but now the passenger side does it. Time to go back to the shop!!

Good luck fixing the simple problem.

Hey i got a question... how do i put pictures in this message? i want to post pics of my car but it doesnt let me... thanks

First off, Welcome Maximiller305!!

Blaxima, if you dont mind my asking....where did you get your springs installed?? Do you know if they added any special hardware along with your springs?? You think its just a lubrication issue after all??

I had my installed by my local shop. I have had them on for about a month now and I don't hear any popping sounds or have any of the issues listed on here. I asked my guy if he used any type of lubrication and he said he didn't. He told me if others are hearing a popping sound then its definitely an install issue.

I havent actually seen the springs themselves yet, but could this be caused by them installing them on the wrong side? What about upside down?? Is there a definite orientation in which they must be installed?

no you can't install them the wrong way, there's diffrent sides to them... the top is wider than the bottom.... you can tell cause only one side fits on the strut plate..

thats for the front...

I dunno about the rear since this is my first independent susp car...

I really don't think my issue is an installation problem. I get the popping when the wheels turn and a weird popping kind of noise on some bumps. I have had shops put the springs in, I even learned how do do it now. I did it myself the last time and paid attention to every detail.. Maybe Ill try lubricating the damper.

I don't understand how lubing the damper would do anything.

If you look at my install on my 5th gen you will see I put the wrap on the lower part of the spring, I think the wrap in not that low when the shop did mine.

Lubrication is only a temp solution. You need to find what is rubbing.

Not to say you didn't look at every detail but is the top mount "out" facing out? If it off even slightly you will getting popping

OK I took apart the front struts today and found the hats were off by a little bit (damn install shop). I dismantled the struts and put them together properly. I am pi$$ed to say it did not fix it. There is a design problem with these strut hats.

I will go coilovers before I have to deal with this $hit.

i have a prokit on 5th gen and it also makes noise on bumps and turns its been on for about 2 years i know from lowering my 4th gen that noise can come over bumps when the spring rings contact each other. the solution to that was using the stock insulator or the wire wrap as others have sugested the other noise when turning was caused by the top hat bearings not being seated properly but there would still be slight noise when the wheel would be turned fully and going over a bump the insulator /wrap helps out big time gl.

I HATE the gap, but I'll live with it rather than with noises and pops and ****...

Hopefully they can fix it without going with coilovers, because that's a rather pricey alternative.

Sorry bud... I'm still riding mine with the noise... I was hoping Maximam could find a solution, as he even tried dismantling it himself...

It is really annoying and tell you the truth, lost a very little tiny bit of interest in my baby...

I took them apart and re-installed them, still same problem. Something I noticed, they make more noise when driven more. 1st thing in the morning they are very quiet, by the end of the day they are rediculous.

I think the top bearing is the problem but can not figure out why.

Add me to the noisy Eibach list. Was riding with my wife yesterday and the popping noise started. Had the Eibachs on for about a month now. I get the noise when I'm not moving. I can be sitting still and turning my wheel back and forth and I hear the popping noise.

Yep, same here. I am thinking either aftermarket struts? or coilovers.

Has anyone contacted Eibach with this issue? I would give them a call and see if they are know of this problem. I might even call tomorrow because I'd like to drop the car when I get the rims in this week.

Do you think the springs are just sliding around on their mounts and something is popping in and out of place due to the torsional movements? Are the strut towers properly torqued?

Please keep us updated. I am really considering some springs, at least in the front. I contact H&R but they only sell them as a set. $369 for the set.

Eibach is scary though, especially the lack of support you all seem to be getting for this problem....And it is a problem, don't care what the installers say.

I have had my eibachs for awhile and here in Brooklyn the street are messed up. I have not any problems with them. Just for the hell of it, do you still have your OEM rims with the tires. If you do put them on and see if you have the same problem. no harm in trying. Warren

I put my EiBachs in myself, Zero noise, Zero clunking sounds, Great feel. I suspect they are turned the wrong way or the top, maybe the mounting plates may have be turned, their are arrows on the top plate indicating which direction the plates should face. then the springs are aligned to the plates, I don't believe Eiback would make something and than expect customers to put up with a clunking sound, it's just bad business. The spring design is not defective your install was...

Find yourself another mechanic to work on your car. Even Eibach will tell you that their springs, installed properly wount make any noise. I've done so many installs on 4th gens, 5th gens and a few 6th gens that I can honestly tell you something is out of place or not lined up correctly. Your suspension should be silent. If the spring is twisting, then your strut bearing is binding up. The assembly should rotate freely, as a solid unit.

Had Eibachs installed last week. Love the new feeling, it really handles so much better. No noise, no popping, in fact I've lost the hollow sound I used to hear when hitting big bumps. Love them so far.

koreanmaximan - What have you heard?

Any word on the Eibach clunk problem?

I think front springs along with painting the black portion of my bumper silver will be the next thing I do. (Almost have enough to get it all done at once now)

I am probably going to go with H&R springs
http://www.hrsprings.com/site/index.html

Interesting, H&R website quotes the price of $369 for the kit.
Tirerack quotes $229 for H&R springs
and $252 for Eibachs.

I read the Tirerack reviews for H&R springs......seem pretty decent.

The Eibachs are kinda scaring me right now because of the problems some have had. Of course I think there are more "Maxers" with Eibachs that are working than are not working, but the bad part about it is that I haven't seen one post from anyone who has the Eibach spring clunk that has found the cause and fixed the problem.

Dealer is quoting me $330 to install the front springs only and $80 more to "re-align everything".....$410 just to install two springs???

H&R lowers the car 1.4" in the Front and 1.3" in the back.

Will this even fix the front gap issue?? And will it lower too much in the back, making the car still 'look' uneven (with the uneven wheel gaps)??
