Eibach issue...

I've scheduled for a diagnosis check on the right front spring installation...

Whenever I make left or right turns and go over any size bumps, it makes a squeaking or popping sound.. It sometimes even make a rubbing sound...

The only thing I could think of is misplaced springs...

Any ideas of the problem to discuss with the technician this Saturday would be greatly appreciated...

If you look at the spring mount you will see that there is a spot labled out. It must be facing out or you will get popping sounds.

I seen that, mine are aligned. I still have that sound too. Are you sure the noise is comming from the top of the strut?

Over the phone, tech said it's quite normal to have such sounds when lowering springs are installed, but it's too annoying... I'm taking my car in tomorrow, so I'll see what I can find out..

I have not lowered my 04....yet I did lower my 95. The stock springs have rubber isolaters on the srings. I purchased new rubber isolators from Nissan for the new springs. No noise

Do they even have those rubbers for 04s?

I went to Autobacs on Saturday, and was told that everything was in place... and that those sounds were quite normal and usual when aftermarket parts are installed... I was p!ssed, but it's not like I'm a mechanist and couldn't really make my statement... I was even thinking if there were something wrong with the spring itself... All and all, I've just decided to ride like that... It only bothers me when I make harsh turns or going over bumps...

Wait, does EVERYONE that has lowered their 6thgen feeling this "noise"?

If so, are you guys just accepting it and getting used to it?

I'm curious cause I was thinking of dropping my SL soon.

I have had my springs on for two weeks and I have not heard any such noise. Two weeks ago I put 20's on and at the same time got the springs installed. I have not heard any noises when doing turns or any squeaking or popping sounds. I am guessing maybe it might be an install issue. I can definitely say I am happy with the springs. I only got the front done and I couldn't be happier.

Yes there are two isloators. One goes on top of the spring and one goes on the bottom. Another thing I did on my 95 is I used wire loom and wraped the springs where the coils touched.

So, here is the final...

Since the Eibachs are lower springs than the stocks, some or most springs may not fit exactly inside the shock pocket, causing the springs to stay loose inside the pocket. So, my right front spring is turning inside the pocket as I'm turning the vehicle... (mostly when turning left...) It isn't necessarily making the popping sound, but rather a cranking sound...

They said there is absolutely nothing wrong with the spring and my pocket... Also installed accurately and properly... It is just that my spring happen to be wondering a bit inside the pocket, but was told that it would NOT do any harm to my car... Just have to live with that sound... unless I get the coilover kit Too much dinero though~~

Of course, some cars are designed or made better (than mine) so these types of things would not naturally happen... However, if anyone experiences this situation, don't worry too much~~ It's not too bad..., I guess...

You're exactly right... I guess I'll just try to be more ignorant with the mods~~ I guess there are usually both good & bad things about mods... I'll just be happy with the good side

I'm curious about the guys going for the D2s too~~ I guess we'll see after they get them done this weekend..

I have lowered every car I have owned and never had this problem. I will be putting springs on my 6th gen in a couple days, I'll let you know what I find out. I am thinking the install is the problem.

I hear ya!! My previous cars have been dropped as well, but never heard any sounds like this either... And they all slammed way lower than this max...

I guess I'm just the unlucky one...

Good luck with your drop~~

Shock pocket???? Huh? While I have not done an sinstall on an 04 I have done it on my 95 and various other vehicles. The spring should not wonder around. The weight of the car should be more then enough to keep in place if it is put in correctly. The other thing as I stated before is are the rubber isolators in place. If no you will get coil noise no matter what spring you use. I would suggest that you look at the coils that are touching. Lift the car and wrap those coils with some wire wrap.

Good luck

Dont the eibachs come with these isolators? I would figure that if they're necessary for the spring to not move, they should come standard.

What exactly is Wire Wrap? Where can you get some and do you just tell the install guy to put it on while hes doing your springs??

Did all the 6thgeners that lowered their car use isolators and/or wire wrap?

Nope you have to buy them separatly from the springs. Wire wrap is a plastic wrap that is spiral looking that you put wires in. You can get wire wrap at Home Depot, Radio Shack... I bought it from my local auto parts place.

Here is some info from the 4th gen forum on spring noise

Thanks 95max for constantly trying to help us!!!

Not quite sure what I'm going to do though... Seems like I can't go back to the shop since they're constantly claiming that there's nothing wrong, and I don't want to pay anymore to adjust or modify this issue... I guess I could just live with it, or maybe I'll consider facing the problem in the near future... Regardless, thnx alot for your help!!

You are welcome. Thats what we are here for.

I understand that you don't want to shell any more money, but if you have a jack and 15-20 dollars for wire wrap you can do it yourself. Your call but for $20 and an hour of your time. Its not very hard. You don't even have to take the suspenion appart. Just jack up car (this will take the pressure off the spring coils), take off the tire and wind the wrap on. oh and don't forget jack stands.

What ever you decide good luck with it

Korean,

I have been on Eibachs for about two days now with 0 noises or problems. As I said before, I think it is a install problem. Demand they reinstall the springs properly.

The eibachs were wraped with the stock sleeves.

Funny thing is now my driver front spring is doing exactly what Korean's is doing. I need to figure this one out.

OH NO!!!! Sorry to hear about this man.

How much time passed before you started noticing issues?? Are the springs popping when turning, going over bumps, all the time?? Where did you get them installed?

I hear ya!!! Mine's still making that sound too...

Although I've decided to live with it, it just seems to get worse... I wish there was a solution..., but until then I guess I'll just have to live with it...

Let me know if you do get to fix yours...

Wow, is this an issue with all of the eibachs? I was looking into them but, I'm a little concerned now. Please let me know what the outcome of the noise is. Has anyone actually contacted Eibach on the situation?

I am going to find out exactly what is happening. I will go to coilovers if this is the result of eibachs on stock struts.
