I get on average of 20 mpg when driving 70 hwy/30 city. when doing long interstate trips, no matter how fast i drive i will always get 27mpg. average mpg on interstates is 29mpg.

my 2000 SE max only got a mere 22 mpg on the interstate with that underpowered 3.0 liter motor, so this car is a dream compared to the last car i had.

Trip Computer is currently saying 24.1 mpg. Combined city/highway driving. 45/70-80 mph.

umm, look a little more closely at your trip computer. It says AVG. MPH
only thr MPG button shows average MPG since last time it was reset.

Thats what I meant to say -- when I press the MPG button.

If you also reset your trip computer you should see what your avg MPH is. If you do 20MPH or under you can expect to get in the low range of the city limit.

If you do 20-35 MPH avg you can expect 20-22 MPG
45-55 You will get some where around 25MPG
56-65 you should get the optimum 30 MPG anything faster than that you will end up dropping to 28MPG
speed demon
75-100 don't expect to get better than 26MPG

That is what I have noticed from all different types of driving I have done over the past year.
This is basically what I have experienced, so will simply confirm it. To do what he suggests, you have to reset both the computer trip (which also resets the average mph) and the average mpg at each fill up. The few times I have gotten 30 mpg there was a tail wind helping.

There was also good advice on this thread from lightonthehill and NismoMax80.

I did not vote in this poll because it was not specific enough on mpg for type of driving you are doing.

wide variance

On the highway I can get from 30+ (60 to 65 mph) to 25 or so (75 to 80 mph). Around town I know it's considerably lower, though I haven't actually calculated it.

I'm getting about 23mpg highway/city mix and 26mpg @ 75 on highway. With the higher gas prices we are all experiencing I was wondering if any mods will give a better mpg on the highway. I've heard from other car owners that a high flow intake can improve gas mileage but I'm not sure. What do you guys think?

2005 SL Highway mileage

I started this topic in its own thread, but it got closed instead of moved..
Lets try it again...

If I don't reset the MPG computer, I've been averaging 24.x MPG in mixed driving. This seemed like alot more than what others were posting.

Yesterday on a trip down rt93 from Manchester to Boston, I measured MPG at 3 different speeds using cruise control. I reset the computer for each test. Each test was for about 10 miles. I was very surprised at the high measurements.

- At 65 mph for 10 highway miles I averaged 37.1 MPG
- At 70 mph for 10 highway miles I averaged 32.4 MPG
- At 75 mph for 10 highway miles I averaged 28.4 MPG

I realize this was far from a scientific test, but I'm still very surprised at the high numbers. I was using 93 octane fuel, and my Auto 2005 has 4500 miles on it.

Whaddya think? Too small a sample? (miles) I've been going about 420 miles on a tank between fillups...

I find that i still have about 10 litres left at least in my tank even though the guage is below "E" and the trip meter is reading "**" km to DTE.. which no dealer is willing to fix and even Nissan Australia don't see to give a hoot about.. They are sysing I should be happy that there is room for erring on being empty.. All of which makes having a trip meter rather usless..

That number seems to be way too high... unless you were coasting down a very long hill or something while you reset it? I've done that and got 99.9 MPG before...

This happens because there is a reserve built into the tank (it's about 4 gallons for us North Americans; out of a 20 gallon tank). Once you get below "E", the DTE of the trip meter will report all stars, indicating that you had better find a gas station soon.

I (as well as others), try to not get to "E" and tend to fill 'er up at about the quarter tank level as to try to keep some of the 'junk' out of fuel lines.

yup..same goes for me..car feels like its working harder when gas is low and rpm's are high...so feels safer and better just to fill the tank earlier..

Mine has dropped to 10.3 liters/100 Km, driven only 800 Km. I drive 75% hwy, 25% city.
Very happy with the gas mileage so far. My old 97 GrandAm had about the same.

[QUOTE=Jayzmax04]Theres lead in my foot,

Dont know about you all, but I didnt get this car to go slow and get the best gas mileage. I enjoy getting on it, not absurd tire screeching or excessive speeds, but just revving it up and feeling the power. Its feels GOOD!

Hey I hear ya Jayzmax! maybe someday I will slow down and think about my MPG but right now I am having way too much fun letting my car do what it likes to do! Zoom..

I think I am getting about an AVG of 24-25. If I am driving on the highway and I reset my trip/fuel simetimes it reds in excess of 30.5 mpg.

Getting about 22mpg. Mostly city driving. I use auto stick feature about %50 of the time. Coming from an 01 V8 Tundra that only got 15mpg so I am very happy with that. Do you guys use reg, plus, or premium? New to the forum as I just got my Maxima last week. Still dont know how to post my own threads. Any help appreciated as it keeps saying I do not have enough privelege to do so. Oh well happy to be here and happy to have my Max
