Its not anymore.... I really WOULD NOT recommend removing the factory resonator, unless your having a smaller one put on. The factory piece is aluminum and once they cut it off it CANNOT be reused. But if you like the sound (as I do now) Its your baby!

Installed magnaflows with magnaflow resonator

Well if pufile works here is the vid and some pics. I have some vids of inside the car but I have to shave them down to 10kb or less.

Very nice pictures. Did you have to do any welding? Later Warren

Everything was welded in. Took the factory resonator out (replaced with a magnaflow one) from there back is custom bent and welded. They had to make a y pipe for the split in the back. The only thing that bothers me is taking off with the changing of the gears its gets a little loud, after you level out it sounds great. Only option I have is to install another resonator, so then I would have 2. I am not sure if thats the way I want to go. ????

I am not a pro at this but I think you should have left the OEM resonator in to see how loud the new setup was. Later Warren

I still have it and the muffler place said that they could put it back in but I would sacrifice performance. I like the sound just can get loud in about 3 or 4 gear until you level out. Once your going you can hardly hear it.

Is it the pic, or does that hang extremely close to the ground?

Yeah its lower to get under the axel. Remeber the factory is flattened there, and the major crimp in the factory exhaust.

Skyler do you have the info for which resonator you installed. Mine is all stock from the mufflers back and it is quite a bit quieter that your video. Maybe I need to do a vid in my garage and see if it's at all close to yours...
Mine are a bit uneven as well, KC agreed it's the muffler not the install. All 3 of ours are similiar...

OK I know this thread has probably been on this earth longer then I have, but iddint want to start a new thread to ask this question.

I basicly went the "make your own catback" for the car because a while ago I was anxious and removed the resonator. Since i figured I was already that deep I took sp2 mufflers from my friends car that got wrecked and had them welded on today. It sounds really freakin insane I have to say, and I disconnected battery and recalibrated system and the car runs like its on crack.
Only problem is the sound may be a bit overwhelming...I see people talking about putting smaller resonators on...how much do these resonators help and is there any other alternitive to the loud in cabin droaning?

Get the Magnaflow resonator. I had my stock resonator removed, and drove w/ that for a while. My expecting wife, w/ extra sensitive ears, requested that I do something about the "noise", so I installed the Magnaflow. The car idles like whispers, and at 2-3k RPM sounds quiter than stock. But WOT is a different story (still deep and smooth). I'm on stock mufflers, but w/ all new piping.

Slow day at the court house? You've had some free time lately; made a spoiler, recarpeted your ride. I'm planning on y-pipe as well when the TS ECU is done, thanks to Tek. I still want the car to purr quietly, until I smash the pedal.

Which y-pipe are you planning on getting? I'm waiting to get the Redlinemax one but it's taking a bit longer than expected....

Free time? Deus has been hanging with Dr. Phil haven't you heard????

Cool to see new members. Welcome. There are a couple of good exhaust options made for our Maximas. Y-pipes, Greddy, Stillen, Cattman, Magnaflow. I haven't seen anyone try to adopt a G35 exhaust system.....yet.

I think its better to get a properly made exhaust system rather than slapping mufflers on.

Well, it depends on what your trying to do. I'm not racing, nor do I push my ride hard. I'll leave that stuff to the youngn's. 265 is enough for me, without changing all the other pipes. There is nothing wrong with "slapping on" a better looking muffler and achieving a nice sound.
