GPS: What city am I in?

It tells you your current road, but is there any way to tell which city you're curently in besides zooming out and picking the closest one on the zoomed out map? Just curious.

Thanks!

Can't you save the current location, and go back to edit it, then look?

I suppose you could - but it doesn't just display it somewhere like the street name?

Thanks.

Anyone else happen to have any ideas as well? Could just be something easy that we're missing.

I believe that zooming out is the only way... I think it assumes that if you got there, you already know what city you're in. When I roadtrip, I keep it zoomed out to anywhere from 4 - 20 mile scales, which shows the cities as they pop up on the map... then zoom in if I stay in a particular city for a while.

on the other hand, not sure, but maybe it will tell you in the settings screen under the GPS settings... you know, the screen where it shows you what satellites you are currently picking up and your long/lat coordinates and elevation... try that screen maybe.

I'll try that - Yea, I thought the same thing as you, if you're there they assume you know where you are, but I don't like assumptions :P What if I'm on a road trip like 1500 miles away, I like to know the cities I'm driving through I like to keep mine zoomed in all the way though.

I'm not sure...haven't tried it today...but I think if you hit the ROUTE button, you can access another button on the screen that says "Where am I" and it will list what street your on, the next street and possibly the city you're in as well.

I will look into it when I step out of the house tonight and confirm it...but I'm pretty sure it works that way.

Ok..I take that last statement back...it won't tell you in which city you're in...never noticed that....probably coz I always know where I am when I'm going out!

If you were driving cross country I bet you wouldn't always know what city you were in :P

It seems stupid that it's not accessible. It obviously knows... Why can't it tell me?

Ever since you started this thread, it has bugged me ! I've read through the manual and pushed all the settings and nothing.

One thing I've notice is you get more city information in birdseye view than in plan view while at the same zoom setting. But you have to be approaching the city and out one or two zooms clicks. This still does not tell you the city you are currently in. I agree, the info is there but how to get it!
