those that have installed a billet grill from pro street

EDIT* Got it installed. I hate to say it but I have tie wrpas holding the bottom part of the grille on. I just couldn't get the screws in there. I have 2 problems though....#1 the latch for the hood rubs against the grille. Did I install it too far back? On the wrong angle? #2 When I went to put the stock cover back on up top, obviously none of the holes line up. How did you guys reinstall yours? Any open hood pics would be helpful thanks

dang...34 views and no comments, I know someone has to have some info for me! :attention

*Edit again....just called pro street lighting and they told me that there should actually be 4 tabs on the inside of the bumper that held the oe one in on the sides. Then the new billet grille will line up to those tabs as well....I have no tabs on the inside of my bumper?!?!?!! Does anyone here have them?
My biggest concern is that the latch is hitting the grille and I know that shouldn't be

I never had problems installing mine. My latch isnt really even close to the grill itself. I did however redrill new holes in the top plastic and reused the factory clips. The lower one I just bought was more of a pain than the top seemed to be.

I ended up slightly bending back the latch. Seems to be okay. I'm going to retap nthe holes for the top plastic and reuse those clips. Thanks KCmaxx

My latch is very close to the grill, but it's not touching the grill. I don't know what you mean by "the stock cover back on up top" since it's been quite long, I cannot recall what was there...sorry.

my problem with prostreet grille is that it makes wind noise around 40~50 MPH. I kinda corrected this problem by installing screen in the back of the grill
with zipties. the wind noise is still there, but it's not that noticeable and i can live with that.

other than that, i'm satisfied with this grill and I get many many compliments by others.

here are some pics of mine:

NOT TIE WRAPS!!!! Have someone help you with it. 2 people are better to install this grill and it will work perfect. I know what you mean about the lower screws, they are tough to get to but with a long skinny screwdriver, and narrow hands, paitence, it will fit perfect. You do have to worry about scratching the paint though.

Next, yes, after I installed my grill, the plastic cover would not fit. I just said....eh, I could probably modify it to work if I wanted it to bad enough, but makes no difference to me.

Last, the hood latch is perfect on mine. No clearance issue. If you test fit first with 2 people.....no problem. Just takes again some paitence.

Hope this kinda helps you, I was frusterated a bit with the lower ones, but spending the time with it.....in the summer, Mississippi heat and humidity at 93%.....I just took a few breaks and it all worked out well.

Thanks for the advice and the pics guys. They help alot. I installed it quickly this morning hence why I did the tie wrap thing this morning. In a couple weeks when I have some time, I'll take it back out and install it right. Do you think doing the bottom screws first would help at all? then doing the top?
Jeff I appreciate that pic, I think I'm goin to have to retap those holes and use the oem pins. I also noticed your stickers above the air intake are in good condition. For some reason my bottom one is coming up....oh well. Thanks again guys.

Ive got more than two in mine... The stock piece held 4. Speaking of Pro street, I called them the other day asking about warranty issues. They told me to call the manufacturer B-Cool Billets. So I did, I told them the black powdercoat was chipping and it really didnt seem to shine anymore... they shipped one out that day. I have to return this one when the new one shows. Everyone on here that has one seems to shine alot better than mine... maybe cause Ive had it for 2 yrs

I'll be honest, I'm not 100% sure if I'm feeling mine anymore. I mayu look into painting the stock one to match the car. It just follows the lines better

Do what makes you happy. You are the owner, but give it a chance. There are a few other grill options out there for you as well.

I got my b-cool billet grille from pro-street lighting on e-bay.

Well my maxima doesn't have the holes for the clips on the side of the bumper cover. Probably the '04's did and not the '05s? I guess that means I'll have to drill the holes myself. Can anybody confirm this?

EDIT: to remove link to picture

My 04 does not have holes on the sides either, the TRENZ I installed on mine lined up perfectly with all existing holes. Good Luck...

PS, loose the tie wraps... it's just wrong dude...

I never drilled anything, the screws are self tapping and require no drilling, only going through 1/8" plastic. Once the clips are on, you can screw the holes right through the plastic. At least that is the way I did it. Used a black sharpie to make sure everything was alligned OK first.

I drilled the holes and installed it. Not too bad of an install but the directions could be more clear besides:
1) Remove stock grille
2) Install new grille,
3) Done
....or something like that...

I bent the tabs on the billet grille to more closely match the angles of the bumper cover sides. I layed up the grille and positioned it where I wanted it, being careful of keeping it away from the hood latch (.060 - .100 inches) and keeping it in line with the bumper mold lines, and used white out to mark the hole locations by sticking the white-out tip through the grille tab holes. I drilled out the holes in the bumper cover, being careful of the edge distance of the holes- too much ED and the clips won't fit and too little may cause the cover to crack from the hole to the edge. I placed the clips over the bumper cover. Then installed the lower fasteners on the loose side, followed by the upper fasteners, and then tightened all the fasteners down.

Drilling the bumper will create a smooth hole and make a crack from the hole to the edge harder to form. Using the self-tap feature of the fastener leaves sharp edges in the bumper cover and will more likely result in a crack forming from the fastener location to the edge.

Well I hope those installing this grille in the future find this thread so they will know exactly what they need to do and look out for. Tomorow I'll take a picture of how I did the plastic cover piece over the grille. I forgot to take one when I was done.

Yes, I get the irritating wind noise from 45 MPH until 55 MPH. It is pretty irritating since that is bassically my non-freeway cruise speeds. Anybody else have this issue with the wind noise (whistling noise)?
