has anyone recharged their a/c?
has anyone recharged their a/c?
i need to have mine done but id like to do it myself if possible i am mechanicly inclined, just have never done it before by myself. anyone have any info to help me with this process. please.
Why would you possibly need to recharge the air conditioning in an 04 Maxima? I didn't have to do it on my 95SE until July 2003, almost 9 years after I bought the car.
Buy a Haynes manual, there is a write-up there on adding refrigerant. For models up to 2001, you have to buy an R-134a charging kit, which includes a 12-ounce can of refrigerant. I don't know what the charging kit is for a 2004 Maxima, possibly the same.
Good luck!

I do it on my wifes car every 2 months, not a Maxima but easy to do on the low pressure side with the blue cap. Takes a minute. But first, the only reason I do this for my wife is her car, yes, it is R134, cost 5 bucks for a can with the recharge kit extra....Walmart has a cheap kit, but the only reason I do it to her car is it is pretty old, no one can find a leak in the system even with dye in it....so gave up spending 70 bucks a few times to find the leak no one could detect.
Now, on your Maxima, should not be having any HVAC problems or loss of freon. DO NOT ADD ANY YOURSELF!!! If you over charge the system....the dealer can screw you BIG TIME, than the entire HVAC system is on you. Take it to the dealer, have them check the system and you are covered. My advice....STAY AWAY FROM THE SYSTEM....take it to the dealer. If it is not blowing cold, something is not right....compressor, condenser....something, or just a leak....could even be the control unit. You are covered 100% unless you are over your warranty miles. Just my 2 cents. Hope this helps. Recharging the AC is so very easy, but do not touch it....have them deal with and diagnose the problem.
That and believe it or not, if you do not know where to add it......it is a high pressure system, you can be in for a surprise.

AC Problems
After winter when the weather started warming up I turned on my AC...never got cold. Just blew mildly cool air. Took it to the dealer, they found a leak somewhere. Ordered the part, installed in and recharged my system. Works perfect now. Was fully covered under warranty.
