On the roof..... the silver trim that goes from the front windshield to the back window....there is a seal on it at the bottom of it, at the bottom of the roof channel that is inboard of it. Is that seal cosmetic or is it a functional one? In otherwords is there a couple panels joined under there or a significant number of fastner holes for the trim piece?

I noticed that on the driver side, the seal isnt fitted right and there is a ridge in one spot where it is bunched up a little. Just wondering if that will affect anything.
