Actually, I also would like some soft leather door trim with maybe some flex leather pouch pockets vice the molded ones (I don't keep anything in mine and it would give the cabin a more roomer appearance if the pouches stay empty, however still give you the option to hold stuff if need be). Also, easier to clean, adds more class, feels better when rubbed up against. The current material is not very cleaner friendly. My opinion only...
I saw a couple LH drive aussie-style Maximas that lacked emblems in fontana a couple weeks ago that sported michigan plates. There were two in a row with some older people drivien them, a man and a woman. I didn't have the time too catch anything more than that.
Yeah it does, I mean I know that Nissan probably won't be making any big changes to the 6.5 gen Max, because they will probably wait til the 7 gen Max to do that, but there should be something out about the 6.5 gen by now. Hopefully info about it will come out really soon.
I just got back from the my dealer, with a free oil change, and free gas, and free wash. But anywayz i have an update on the 2006 Maxima. The 2006 Maxima will have Bluetooth technology. The steering wheel controls for the radio will be illuminated, along with the added buttons for the bluetooth. The overhead console for the dome lights and sunroof controls will look similar but will be easier to use. The overhead console itself will be molded to be flush, and look cleaner. Little modifications will be done to the exterior.
" Nissans flagship sedan enhances it premium positioning with a variety of new features. Maxima becomes the first Nissan vehicle to offer the bluetooth hands free phone system. Wireless technology allows users to link bluetooth enabled cellular phones with the vehicles audio system for hands free use.
Textured woven fabric on the headliner and A-, B-, C pillars bring a more upscale look and feel to the interior. The shape of the overhead console has been revised to create a flush and intergrated look and to make the sunroof switches easier to use. Additional sound insulation provides a quieter ride.
For more luxury: Tilt-down outside mirrors are optional on automatic tranmission modesl. Either mirror can be set to automatically tilt down when the transmission is put in reverse, improving visibility when backing up.
Audio and Cruise control buttons located on the steerin wheel are now illuminated.
The graphics displayed on the optional Nissan Navigation screen are crisper and easier to view.
XM or Sirius Satellite radio with a body-color antennea are now offered as a factory installed option." (Sales Talk july August 2005)
Comparison Between the Maxima and Acura TL
Among Maxima competitors, Acura TL also offers Bluetooth cell phone capability, but Maxima's Bluetooth system offers several advantages, including:
-easier pairing process
-Multiple phone books with multiple phone numbers per contact
- bluetooth steering wheel switches that are illuminated
-built in voice memo recorder
-multiple language capability
- choice of multiple ring tones
-ability to turn the vehicles bluetooth transmitter off

well i'm happy with my 04 then. those features will be nice, but i'm glad i didn't pay for them. just got a new phone w/o bluetooth. been planning a project for my liner and pillars anyway. and have my controls memorized, think maybe for me more lights would be a bit distracting. reverse mirrors would be really nice, but i have power anyhow. oh yeah, i prefer my mini antenna custom mounted out of site on my rear deck.
"For the 25th Anniv. the Max continues it's transition as the FWD Infinity..."
now of course, if i didn't have one yet, I'd get an 06

Hmm...surely a slight aesthetic change has been made, as well. Maybe flatten out the front end of the car, so that the headlights don't wrap around the fender anymore and change that nasty grille(!). I like the back end mostly, but I hate the bulbous bumper though.

you're crazy, the headlights are a trademark, but eyelids are available now.
It would be nice if Nissan offerd a factory installed body kit like so many others. Maybe some bigger SL wheels would be nice too. But you know what the Maxima is already a beast. I mean there isnt much left to add to this car.
Good information, it is about time they have the steering wheel controls light up, the bluetooth is cool, and the mirrors will be cool. I am sure that they will do some kind of exterior changes, though they will be very slight probably, maybe they will change the grill or something, and more than likely there will be a hp boost of some sort.

the parts inbetween the windows. My entire interior is black except my headline and pillars (for now).

Haha. I wanted to mention how much I love the front end of the current Altima. It's so f-ing mean it hurts. I love the car, but hate the rear of it. Nissan just can't get their designs 100% right today (350Z excluded).

I like the idea of using a soft material on the pillars instead of the plastic...that will improve the looks a bit...however from what I see theres nothing the 2006 will offer that would make me feel bad I did'nt wait. We'll probably see some outside changes in 2008..and they will ride it till 2010 before retooling for a 7th gen...that im sure 90% of .orgers will hate.

The post above by 05MaXiMaMenG (is there a subliminal message in that moniker?) is interesting, and (unlike many posts in this thread) seems legit and reasonable.
That 'Sales talk' release is emphasizing exciting new things IN the '06 Maxima, and was not intended to cover the outside, as anyone looking at the outside will see any changes without prompting from the sales folks. Likewise, it did not mention the 'low tire inflation' warning system we will slmost surely see on the '06, as it is required in all vehicles by '07.
I still say (as I have for the past year) I think the '06 will have some cosmetic changes on the front and rear. The body style will not change, and non-Maxima folks may not really notice much difference. But posters here will notice.
Some posters above seem to feel the frontal and rear cosmetic changes won't come until '08, and the 7th gen won't come until '10. I think Nissan would drop the Maxima before letting it grow that stale.
I still feel the '07 Maxima will be exactly like the '06, and the 7th gen will come out in the April to July period of 2007 as an '08. It is possible the 7th gen would come out as late as spring of 2008 as a 2009, but I don't feel that is likely. Things move too quickly these days to let a style 'ride'. Too much competition.

I'm hoping that the Egyptian cotton will be in the car no longer, and replaced with a material that is nicer and easier to keep clean.
Do you guys think Nissan will add the Intelligent Key to the Max? Don't they have it on the Murano? It think it would cool if the added rain-sensing wipers and maybe gave the Bose sound a little extra punch or even some rear park sensors.
hopefully the

Yeah, the 7th gen will not come out in 2010. Nissan generations usually last 4 production years and then they come out with the next gen. So the 6th gen came out in 2004, and the last version of that stlye will be as a 2007 model, and the 7th gen 2008 model, will probably be here by the middle of 2007. I would assume that they would add the intelligent key feature as a option and that the 7th gen would have an AWD option. The low tire pressure system will be cool, because then getting the run-flat tires would be an option.

and offer better deals...Anyways, damn I wish I had the mirrors that tilted down when you put it in reverse, those are friggin nice on my H2. The bluetooth stuff..that crap is not secure enough for me!
Go to carsdirect.com. I bought from there two years ago on another car. It was as easy as ordering a pizza and got a decent price. You just call up and say "I want this and this" and they give you that price. Right now, they're selling the Max SE starting for $23,726...with no BS haggling with any salespeople. I'm waiting on information on the 2006 before I buy one to replace my 98 SE.
Additional comments...that's the price here in NJ. I just plugged in a different zip code and got a higher price. It's a good place to go to gauge what prices you are negotiating though
