Check Engine Light came on!!!
My check engine soon light came on.... anybody know some reasons y this can happen? Is my engine gonna blow soon lolz... a friend of mine told me it can be because i didnt turn off my car to pump gas in... would be odd since last time i pumped gas was 2 days ago...he works for HOnda and figured it was the same w/ Nissan...=/

.....your friend is likely to be right. A few months ago I had the same thing happen, but it was because I didn't fully turn the gas cap close (have to let it click about 3-4 times). Took it to the dealership and they just reset the computer.

.....they had given me a print out of the computer diagnostic where it showed the reason for the light coming on. This was like around December and never have had that happen to me again because ever since then I make sure I hear a few of those clicks before pulling out of the gas station.

The same thing happened to me and they just reset the computer. To work on your car now you have to be a computer wiz.

With our fancy lcd systems on our cars, I wished they had some type of data logger or trouble code reader built in. It would be great to be able to read the diagnostic codes and reset the CEL.
I know we can buy these, just wished it was readily available from the factory. It would be easier on the nissan technicians as well.

There is a known problem with the 05s with bolts under the dash loosening and tripping the SES light. Dealer computer cannot read code and fix is to tear dash apart and retighten the bolts. Happened to mine and tech rep was well aware of the problem.

If it's just the gas cap then it's no big deal... it will reset itself in a couple of days at the most. Happened to me once on my other car first, and after I found out what it was and that it would go away on its own (something about air pressure in the tank or something), I just let it be and it went away.
Of course, if it just comes up "just because" then that's another story, and it deserves a visit to the dealer or autozone to read the codes and see what's what.
I wonder if it'd be worth it to get one of those OBD-II scanners or a computer interface... hmmmmm....

The most common reason is the loose gas cap. No reason to buy a scanner unless you live very far from Autozone. Autozone will pull the codes for free. Saves time from having to schedule an appointment with a dealer just to find that the gas cap wasn't clicked 3-4 times.

But if that's not enough, this screenshot (from someone else on mp3car) has me thinking about OBD-II...

I have a data-logger on my laptop that utilizes the serial port. It has a harness that plugs into the obd-ii port, but never used it on my Max. I'll try it if I can find my cable, but I know it doesn't have any nissan specific codes. Just the generic ones that everybody uses.
I guess I'm just being too demanding when I wish it was a built-in feature on our cars.

the "gas cap loose" causing the light to come on is in the manual somewhere... it ususally resets in a while (dont rememebr how.. but there is a way.. chk the manual)
as for resetting the computer ... wait for a while .. u'll soon know how to do it... it will be on the net soon enuf... used to do it for my 626 whenever any of the light s came on (that were not serious)
