How many of you guys have their max's lowered. Any problems with them? How do you have the Max lowered? Any tips? I will be doing the active tuning set up with Eibachs. Should I lower it or not?
I did have my car lowered on the stock SE wheels before. I ran into problems about 2k miles after installing them. I had the Eibachs all around. I loved the look and sporty feel the car had. But when pushed you could tell you needed the struts and shocks for the complete ride.
Thanks

Gotta go with rims first though. Look at it this way.
1. A lowered car with stock rims.
2. A new car with new rims.
If you gotta choose one or the other. I go with rims. Don't get me wrong, I have a set of Eibachs, I just gotta get some more cash to get em installed.

Go ahead and drop it.
I only have about $500 miles on my car and I already have a set of wheels and Eibachs sitting in my basement. However I'm going to wait a while before I put them on. I drive my Z during the summer months and when fall hits I'll lower the Max and put the wheels on. I think Im just lowering the front though. The back seems just fine.

I guess I'm the first to say it but I'd lower it first. I think the lowering makes the entire car look different (much better) The rims obviously add the style but lowering just makes the whole car look meaner.
Plus when I see people with nice new dope rims but not lowered I always say
"damn they should have lowered that thing!!"
Here's a pic of my car stock and then lowered with stock rims...

i say go to a wheel shop and get the front springs cut about a coil or so. The result being an inch or two drop for the front. My friend did that to his 03 galant and it looks great, rides great also. It costs about $25 bucks per spring cheaper than anything ive seen.

I agree with ramberg, do all 4 springs for better performance handling.
I know several people who did only 2 and all went back to have the remaining 2 installed. I Installed my own Eibachs in my garage and for almost a year now have had ZERO problems, no noise, weird clunking sounds, etc. Do the drop first, the car will look and handle better. Good luck...

You never ever cut coils from your springs, this is not the direction to take. Springs have progressive rates, and those are thrown off when you cut them, plus you'll be all bouncy Honda Civic style....

What about B+G springs? Has anyone heard of them? They springs have for 04+ Max.

I wouldnt go by what they say the drop is because half the time its not right. Nobody has the H&Rs though so we dont know, not familiar with b-g suspension either. Ive had my Eibachs for over a year and the Kyb shocks in the rear. I still want the max lower so I might go to coilovers eventually.
I have the Eibachs and I only lowered the front. I get alot of compliments on it. The MAIN problem I am having is there is a popping noise whenever I turn like the spring is moving inside. Any Idea how to fix that?
Also mine is a 2005 SL and I cannot seem to find after market struts/shocks for it? Any help with that also ;p
Thanks Alot

OK, I called Eibach and spoke with a tech there. He told me the problem is when places install them they are butting the spring right up against the cup. He also said there is a 1/2 inch riser in the cup, when the spring is placed right on it while turning etc. the spring is trying to "walk" on to the cup. he said its need a gap when it installed so that doesnt happen.
Disclaimer: I have really no idea what he's talking about but Ill let the shop I got them installed at figure it out
