CATALYTIC CONVERTER questions?? Help?

OK, here is the issue. I purchased a Y-Pipe from Custom Enterprise and went to install it. I live in florida and had a local company go to put it on. When to my surprise I have a California Emissions Car. Now I say again I live in Florida and bought the Car brand new (3 miles on it) in Florida. I don't understand this however, this is my issue. Does anyone know where I can get a florida emissions cat converter (2) of them or what I need to do to take off the Cat's and put something else in it's place? I don't want to pull them off and weld some pipe on, I just want a regular emissions pipe or headers, which I don't think they even make yet. I have contacted some sites on the internet but no luck. I did find some from Pinnacle Nissan and have the regular Converters but I just want to make sure I am ordreing the right part. Jose at Custom Enterprise was super nice and even told me I can get a full refund. I would definitly do business again with them. They took the time out to make sure I was happy. Thanks again in advanced.....

Even over here we have exactly the same 3 cat set up , normally most exhaust guys will not remove a cat and leave nothing in it's place mainly becuse it's illegal... however they were happy to ditch my y pipe cat becuse there are 2 others one on each exhaust bank ...

I'm not exactly sure what the problem is. In FL there are no emissions. So first there are no FL emissions cats. In FL it's not illegal to not have a cat but illegal for a shop to remove it. Weird but even so.

Any exhaust setup you install on your car will not matter. You want to have the best obviously and don't want it sounding like butt but at the same rate I don't understand what Cali has to do with your vehicle.

I believe California passed a law about the polution of cars a years ago. so now car companies have to make sure they pass the california emissions test. thats why if you look on new car inforation, they all say they pass california emissions.

We Californians like to impose our miseries on others. Most cars are trying to be environmental friendly and using California emmision standard to measure their vehicle emmision worthy. The Max is considered to be an Ultra Low Emmision Vehicle, while other VQ35 cars are only low emmision. All the tree-huggers love this word, ULEV, only slightly less than HYBRID. I think all passenger cars sold in the US in recent years must be at least a low emmision vehicle. And now the rest of the world is getting their turn.

Thanks for the information. The problem is I have a car with CA emissions and I did not know this. From taking with Nissan not all Maxima's have the CA emissions Cat converters, only a select few. I don't know how mine got on a truck to Florida, but never the less this is my issue. I just want to be able to put on the y-pipe from Custom Enterprise but can't becuase of the CA Cat converters. My Mechanic called it a PUP converter (whatever that is). I need to replace it and he told me the only way to do this is with this part number 208A1-8Y100. I need two of them and Pinnacle Nissan (store online) can order them for me, however they are like 500.00 a piece and I need two of them. I just wanted to know if there was a cheaper way to do it and still put on the Y-Pipe. I don't want to do anything that is Illlegal. I just want the extra horse power. Thanks to all for the help.
