I have the Bentley style mesh here now and will be offering it as an option in the future as well.

As far as other designs I tried my best to NOT duplicate the existing Altima design and come up with something fresh and original for the Maxima. Evidently that was a mistake. The Altima design is really the only other option I see so I'll give that a shot.
I commend you on your bearing and patience with the forum. Although I am sure all the members of the forum do not even come close to representing the entire target market you are trying to reach, we are a good starting point...

thanx for the effort of designing a new product for the max. i think majority of the people, including i, were expecting a grill like the altima and didnt' see this coming. i would definitely purchase a grill that's similar to the S2 grill, if you guys decide to make another design.

Again, just my opinion...........

Make it like the shell on the Altima......painted, then offer different inserts for it. Hell, you would make tons on people who would want to quick change a grill insert. The Bentley mesh, powdercoated mesh, maybe a billet insert, think of a grill that is changeable. You would make more money with the inserts. If I could just install a grill surround, than change the grill design with a few wing nuts in under a minute.....I would buy as many as the watches I own. Just a few suggestions. Again, thanks for at least making a product for the Maxima....as many have shut the doors on us. Telling you though....really think about what I said. Interchangeable back mesh or inserts in different designs once the frame is mounted.....think of all the options.....pretty easy to get to the rear of the Max grill......

carcus, that is a very good idea. if you can change the look of the max in matter of minutes, that will sell! i know people get sick of seeing the same grill. if you can interchange it with different inserts, people will buy. you're a genius carcus!

I'll be the odd duckling here...because I like this grille. I think some sort of "tooth" is an extra, and readily visible, distinguishing factor between the Maxima and the Altima...which I like. Believe it or not, I don't hate the stock grille either, but I still feel this is a marked improvement over it. How much would something like this cost though? I probably can't afford it right now...

It does look Titanish nismo. Its because of the thick bars where the tooth was. I like it, but not with silver mesh, if it had black mesh Id buy it. Any chance?

I did not mean at all to bash this grille my hopes were just up b/c I really like the sytle of the altima s2 grille. i also think the idea with switching the insert pieces is a great idea. I would definitly by the billet and the mesh because i like both. i'm sure that the product is well manufactured and that is why everyone is posting ideas to make a different grille, I have faith in your products and would like to see something similar to the s2 with an interchangable grille insert. That just my .02. I would like some input to see if that may be an option

I am not really too pumped by the new grill. 'A' for effort cuz Lord knows I couldn't make one. For me, I like the stock grill except for the Kentucky Toothless Smile. If the horizontal bars were solid chrome from end to end, I'd be very happy with it. I like the bling and shine of the chrome and I like the chrome center with the burger. Someone make a chrome adapter to fit over the toothless pieces and I'll buy it.

P.S.
Also, for the lower grill, could someone come up with a new insert for just that piece that would include traditional forward facing fogs to replace the turning lights? I think this approach would be a whole lot easier and cheaper than doing a whole new nose. I also like the layout of the origional front clip so I'd be cool with a new insert.

it was a valiant effort, but i think the continued waiting and extending got hopes up extremely high and the bold design caught many off guard. Maybe it's b/c majority looking for an aftermarket grille disliked the tooth so much.

The choices of mesh are excellent. I feel if the bars weren't so wide and the mesh was flush even forward or backward, it would look better. the bars extending the hood lines does make it unique, so many may not like it, buy many may. just not so thick.

how durable will the fiberglass be? i'd worry about it chipping.

Just wanted to say if you do make one like the Altima S2 grill, I will send you my Credit card info the same day. I kept going to your website and thinking how much nicer the S2 would look like on a Max. The only reason I havent bought a new grill was because I was waiting for you guys to finish this one. It does look good, much better then stock. I was just wanting a S2 type with a border around the mesh. Look forword to seeing the Maxima S? grill when it's done. Thanks for all the work your doing.

Unfortunately as nice as interchangeable inserts sounds, its not very practical. The mesh needs the support of being secured along its entire perimeter, and a few fasteners of some sort probably won't work well when you're scrubbing bugs off. But I'll give it some thought.

We're definitely keeping this grille, and I will create a Maxima version of the Altima design as fast as I possibly can so that there will be two offerings for the Maxima. Cost should be similar to the Altima grilles.

Thanks for the input!

what is the difference between the s2 and the s5 grille. i saw the s5 in person and thought to myself "man that grille looks tight". i even had the guy pull up next to my car so i could compare and see if it could be modified to fit. but if your going to make one. consider me sold.

The S2 is for the 2002-2004 Altima's and the S5 is for the 2005+ Altima's since Nissan did some changes to the front bumper, headlights, and hood...it required a new grille.

I'll do it as fast as I can and ever have, but it will still be a couple months at least. There is just a lot of time involved and its pretty much a one man show here on my end (development/production/shipping).

WOW! Can't believe no one likes the grille! I was the actual test fitter and my car is the one being shown in the picture. I really like the look of the grille and am pleased with the work active tuning has done. The only thing I might add is the Nissan emblem in the center but other than that, I think it looks great! All you people need to lighten up and give these guys credit for such a great job with this grille. It's original and is a real eye catcher. I've already had tons of compliments on the grille and people asking me where I got it and how much. It really does look a lot better if you were to see it in person. Thanks again active tuning for doing such an excellent job on the grille and for your high quality service!

If you read all the posts, then you would see that us people were giving honest feedback and with the exception of maybe a few, we never discredited Active Tuning. I am sure they are grown men and can take critisism anyway if that's how you saw it. Likewise, there are people who like the grill. Enough said.

EXACTLY - I think lots of good feedback was given. Might have seemed harsh from some but overall I think everyone had the same intentions. Not exactly what a majority of the board was looking for. I'm sure active tuning will turn out an awesome product soon.

Agreed, but I can't help but wonder if the responses might have been along the lines of "I was really expecting something a little more special and unique for the Maxima and not just a Maxima version of the Altima grille" if I had indeed made the other version first.

But I can take the negative feedback and I'm over the initial disappointment. I've been telling myself that the Maxima owners are just an especially tough crowd to please, and your responses have only motivated me more to make these products as good as they can possibly be.

Thanks again for all the feedback!

this is a tough board. people love to speak freely. you cant please everyone.

Like carcus said, some like mesh, some dont. if you make that mesh altima looking one, you'll have people hating on it. thats life.

you guys are great...purchased the grounding kit from you and I look to purchase from you again. Keep on coming out with ideas...

try to get some turn signal mirror shells for the 6th gen... (the way the benz's have on their side mirrors) that would sell! but then again, you'll have the haters...LOL

I did see an Altima (S2) copy for 04+ Max at the dealer near me a couple of months back. Someone beat you to your own design. They asked for too much $, so I passed.

Some people do not care for the look of my grill and that's fine with me. But you have to respect the vision, creativeness and craftmanship that went into making it.

I take pride in the fact that I created a new, unique design for a grill for my car. I expected people to copy it and I know there is nothing I can do about that.

Yes I wish I could. They would certainly be more appropriate on a more upscale car like the Maxima than they are on the Altima.

They are one of my favorite mods, and I'm not real big on lighting although I do have floor LEDs. I like functional mods much more and these are nice in that they're both functional and look good.

Its too bad the Maxima doesn't have those cheap pop-off covers on the mirrors like the Altima does.

If you look back to some old threads, it was pretty unanimous that us guys interested wanted that S2 look all the way and I don't think you would have had so many haters if you guys had gone that route!!! Just an FYI...

OK. But there is still the issue of the recess that needs to be covered and that did play a big part in the decision to keep something in the center. I hate to call what we created a tooth. In fact, I always thought everyone was referring to the things in the openings when they said they hated the tooth. But I'll get it done whatever it takes and it will cover that recess too.
