Squeak after y-pipe and Greddy exhaust install

Anyone else on here notice a pretty loud squeak after installing either the Y-pipe and Greddy exhaust. It progressively gets worse after driving for a while and will only squeak while moving.

I have had the car up on a lift three times now, and unfortunately I am unable to duplicate it while on the lift. I have double-checked all the bolts and this time I even put some grease into the rubber mount for the y-pipe hangar . The hangar is actually a smaller diameter than the stock one so I thought that was the source. I'll leave this one with the guru's.

yes it is a bracket on the exhaust where the exhaust splits. the bracket is rubbing another piece of metal. your going to have to sand the piece down. that is what i did to mine and it stopped.

It kind of sounds like it's coming from there. I suppose I will give that a try. The guys at the Auto Skills Center must think I am retarded and this will make my fourth trip including when I installed it. I have spent almost $20 now trying to fix this. Makes me wonder if Greddy even road tested their exhaust. Thanks.

$6 dollars for the lift for 1 hour. They told me I wouldn't get it all installed in 1 hour. I proved them wrong.

Maxmale, it looks like you used the lifts, too. Were the employees kind of arogant? Almost like they assumed you new nothing because you were utilizing the lifts and tools. The only time I asked them anything was for a tool that wasn't in the tool box.

I might contact Greddy because at least three of us encountered the squeak.

If you have access to a lift then you can do it yourself. You might need a hand lowering the stock exhaust.

If you don't want an exhaust leak, buy the new gasket for the exhaust to cat connection. I paid $10 at Nissan, but you can probably get it cheaper at Autozone or Advance.

I ordered new hangers a full set for like 30 bucks from my dealer and too the car back to the exhaust guy his mechanic installed them different guy than did the foist install and it comes down to this if the system is installed right the first time no grinding needed i was under the car and ith the hangers properly installed there is no chance of rubbing. the greddys hooks have more than enough clearence. Check your hangers because the rubber in mine were no good so i replaced them all together now Greddy is even and does not squeek and I AM HAPPY!!!!

Since Maxmale is in the military, he probably took it over to the base hobby shop where they have bays, lifts, tool boxes and other specialized equipment which is pretty much all included in the hourly use fee for the do it your selfer... It's one of the best benefits I still use also as a military retiree...

PS, yes you can do it all yourself in under an hour, buy a new gasket for use between the GReddy and Y-Pipe and last, get help to lower the stock exhaust when removing, pretty damn heavy for one person...

I think I know why the exhaust only squeaks after the car has been running for awhile or after a good WOT run. I have the CE y-pipe which has the flex section in it. I think that a combination of g-forces pulling back on the exhaust under acceleration and expansion of the flex area due to increase EGTs are causing the exhaust to rub on the rear hangar bracket. Keep in mind I can not duplicate the squeak on the lift, and believe me its been on a lift 4 times now for this annoying squeak.

For those that have experienced the squeaking, do you have the CE y-pipe AND Greddy exhaust?

I think you are refering to the stock exhaust, it's not stainless steel.
