For those interested in a CF trunk. step inside
For those interested in a CF trunk. step inside
this is an e-mail i sent to a reputable company and this is the response i got back.
Frank:
Hi! I have had only one request for a CF trunk
lid for the 6th gen. The response that we have had with
the 5th gen trunk lid has been very SLOW, that has been
one of the main reasons that we have not ventured into
the 6th gen CF trunk market.
But that does not mean that we would not be
interested in this project if we do get those type of
numbers. I did the 5th gen CF trunk lid mainly because
two of my customers were also my friends
so I
couldn't say no.
If you could get 10 serious buyers, have them
make a non-refundable deposit of around 200 dlls, I can
consider this project to be a serious one, I would go
ahead and purchase a brand new trunk lid at my local
nissan dealer, and make the molds on site (some molds
we make at our shop, and other we outsource) this one
we will make our self's to have control of the
production times.
I could let them go for 490 dlls + actual
shipping and handling costs. (aprox 95 dlls to 150) and
to save time it would be shipped out billable to the
sender. This is if we get 10 committed buyers.
I don't believe that fitment will be a
problem because I have a friend that just bought a
brand new 05 and he will let me use it for fitting. If
you ever followed the 5th gen trunk project, we never
had one to work on, and the fitment was pretty good and
perfect with a little bit of work (adjusting both
latches). So we do pretty nice work.
Please let me know, I just completed several
large projects, I'm going to start a front bumper
project for an RSX this month, (easy work) and have
time to also work on this project as well.
The estimated time frame for the project would
be 6 to 8 weeks for the mold, and aprox 2-3 trunks per
week.
Thanks!
Jose.

i thought that eli guy is designing a hood and trunk? i think CF would look great on your orange beast, but for the rest, not so. with aluminum hood and trunk, most aren't interested b/c cf could possibly weigh more.

What I would be interested in is a CF engine cover which should be easy to make and cheaper.

It might just help the freaking shimmy in my $32,000 buggy. I have to adjust my Nav to take me two blocks East of my final destination to compensate for the shimmy. maybe a big-assed CF wing would do the trick!!!

Hi How are you?
They are not making them anymore. Mystery is the only one I know that has it and he won't sell it.[/QUOTE]
Um don't forget that your sponsor (Redlinemax) makes the CF engine cover...and I have one. (unless I'm missing something)
