She Is All Mine Now!!
She Is All Mine Now!!
I am very happy as I just made my last payment on my 2005 SE and she is all mine now! What a great feeling to not owe anything else on the car. Barring any unforeseen disasters, I am planning on keeping her till she dies some day.
I see the 06's are out now but from what I can tell there apears to be little or no difference over the 05. Is this the case or am I missing something? When will they redesign the car again to look different? Just curious how long I have with this design before it becomes a previous style.

Thanks everyone! I am excited about being debt free again. I just hate having any kind of payments hanging over me. I just never feel like a car is really mine till I have paid for it completely.
As for mods, I am kind of a stock only person with these newer cars. Back when I was young I used to mod lots of cars but they were all late 60's early 70's models and mods were like putting in big blocks and double 4 bbl manifolds and such. Hehee.. makes me feel old now but with the cost of parts, the complexities of technology and the lack of free time as one gets older, I tend to now stay with a car I like as just plain old stock. Actually the Maxima is a pretty impressive car right from the factory and from what I am reading on the forums there really aren't any mods that truly make any kind of big difference over the stock performance anyway. However I do think its cool for those who chose to mod their cars and for those doing appearance mods well thats really interesting to me. The only mod I might consider would be to install a nissan nav system into my Maxima if I could find the whole factory setup for a decent price. I found one on ebay once but passed on it because the guy wanted a small fortune for it. I may explore it again someday if I can find a good deal on the parts. Other than that I think I will just enjoy her as she is.

man, if I didn't have a payment, the hell with stock!!! I would have enough money to have people fabricate me parts for the car lol.. really, I would be spending all that money on mods for it, like an expensive audio system and ****... man I can't wait!!

I just like keeping a perfect example of the car in its mint and stock condition. Garage kept and everything. I now have 8k miles on her and in fact if you were to put a new car sticker in the window and pull onto the dealers lot, I would be surprised in anyone didn't think it was brand new right next to the other ones there. Not a single scratch, swirl mark or anything anywhere. Howerver I do know I won't be able to keep like this forever and I am just waiting for the inevitable first ding, nick, etc to occur.
oh sure.. that might be one reason why I haven't installed a body kit, its cause i like the stock look also.. I really like it as is right now..
if I would get someone to make mods for me, it will be performance mods 100%.. altho we have mods right now, the small gains are not making me wanna hurry to get them..
but overall i love the car as is, and I love my tooth grille..lol..

With respect to modifications, you echo my sentiments exactly. I admire and respect those who modify their cars, but that's not where I am right now. I've thought it might be fun to do a cold air intake, but I don't think I would get much horsepower bang for the modification buck. For now, I'm just trying to keep my stock Maxima in the best shape I can. If there was something that could increase gas mileage, I might consider that.
I am very happy for you to have paid off your car. I still have about 3 1/2 years to go!

On the mods, I know what you mean and actually it surprises me a bit that their are so many people who are modifying their Maximas. I see the Maxima as a really nice turn key car right out of the factory and as we know the money spent on virtually any performance mods for the Max is not very cost effective when you consider the small boost you get out of it. Now I am not down on modding if thats what makes someone happy and as I said before I did quite a bit of modding when I was younger. But those cars were rough in comparison to start with, parts were cheap and abundant and just about any mod could yield a 50bhp or 100bhp increase. So to me it was cool and inexpensive. The biggest investment back then was your time. Today with the complexities and cost of the cars alone, it is incredible how quick you could spend a small fortune trying to modify them. Not to mention the refinement, ride quality and the power it has right from the factory is awesome as it is. Besides there is a special feeling when you drive a pristine stock example of a nice quality car like the Max and to be honest with you, it is what made me purchase the car to begin with and I really don't want to lessen it by modifying it. I am happy for those who choose to mod theirs but for me it is pure enjoyment in its native stock form. I wouldn't do the cold air intake either, I agree with you on its not worth the small increase in power.
a pastime?

Congrats, just paid mine off last week, spending a little on mods such as an CAI and slotted/drilled rotors, then going to sit tight and wait for the 7th gen to make an apperance then I will trade in my Max.
