I see many Maxima's have it.. is it good?
Thanks
They'll probably help w/ the wind noise but they're but ugly IMHO Originally Posted by MAXIE06SE

my opinion, no.
1-ugly
2-block wind? why open it? anyway, wind doesn't come in. the sunroof sucks it out. besides there is already a functional "blocker".
I think it could add more noise than help.

I have found that the Nissan sunroof wind-blocker seems to reduce the noise of an open sunroof on each Maxima I have owned. That is important, as I drive with the sunroof open rather frequently.
Unlike most, I feel the wind blocker adds sort of a 'finishing touch' to the car.
But the REAL reason I ALWAYS install one first thing is so that, when I park the Maxima out in the hot sun all day, I can slide the sunroof back a few inches, allowing the very hot air gathered at the top of the passenger cabin to escape through the sunroof opening, yet have the wind blocker prevent any sudden storm from pouring rain straight through the cracked opening in the sunroof.
It is OK that the water from the rain will still run down and enter the opening, as that water is controlled by the drain flanges just inside the edges of the sunroof opening, and will be directed down the drain tubes in each 'A' pillar.
Viva la wind deflector!

I close my car up when I'm driving over 45 mph, and turn on the AC instead. It's more comfortable than the wind noise plus I don't have to kill my speakers to drown out the wind blast. And the AC is efficient above 45 so it's a non-issue with fuel economy. I don't like the looks of the visor, and they block too much wind in city driving (where I have my SR open). So, under 45, use the SR; over 45, close up the car and use the AC.
Well i had the visor on my 4th gen maxima and it looked good aswell as cutting down on noise. I was consedering the visor for my 6th gen but yet to see how it looks, so any pics of it would be great.

I have also been considering one of these, But I can't stand the way it looks. It is so ugly, I love how it looks without the deflector, looks smooth and slick and the deflector ruins this look. But I hate the noise the wind makes when its open. There is something that sort of acts like a "deflector" already built in. When you open the sunroof, a small flap goes up and the stupid thing about it is that it doesnt do sh*t! I sometimes use my hand and hold it down just to test it and it sounds much better with the flap down!! Thats dumb!

Gives the smooth roof lines the bed head look... Sorry, I say NO...

I don't like the way the deflector looks. I bought one but never installed it, returned it. When I have the SR open I also crack one of the back windows. That reduces the noise considerably, plus it brings in more cool air without blowing my hair around too much.

yes, you are absolutely right. I also crack the windows and it definately does sound less noisy and more comfortable to drive with Originally Posted by ttbeam

Has anyone noticed how nice the max looks when the moonroof is cracked open? i think that its very nice looking and maybe adding a visor wouldnt be as bad, but seems like most of you guys have seen it and your all saying its ugly. pics would help anybody?

I never saw the sanity of paying $900 for a sunroof and the cover 1/3 of it up with a $30 wind blocker.

To prevent heat from accumulating in my car, I open the BACK of the sunroof upand slide the interior cover until its about 2-3 inches from covering the roof. That way I can let the heat out AND I dont have to buy that fugly sunroof shield. WIN WIN, baby!!!

Personally, I don't really care for the look of wind deflectors, so I'd say no (no offense to anyone who owns one).

I did not mention that I also have rain deflectors over each window, and the matching smoked color of the rain deflectors and the sunroof wind deflector complement each other very nicely. They also look good because they sort of match the one inch wide rubber trim I have around all four wheel wells (blocks dings in the wheel well areas).
Whereas others here are clearly going for the smoothest look, I am strictly in this for comfort, protection and practicality. I have had window rain deflectors, black rubber wheel well trim and sunroof wind deflectors on all my Maximas, and I have owned nothing but Maximas for over twenty years.

I wish they would come out with a deflector that was more attractive. One which wasnt so big and tall. If it was shorter when its on top of the car, I think it would be less noticeable and possibly more attractive. Oh welll

Where is the cheapest place to buy a wind deflector? Since my color is Smoke I think it will look ok. The delaer wants $70 for it.
Senior Member
Sure it blocks noise, but not enough that I think would be worth it. They don't look that great. Keep your lines smooth without the bulkiness of lame aftermarket parts.
