New to Maximas and Nissans.. Need Help..

Hey guys,

As some of you may have noticed, I recently signed up on the boards and have been trying to get my post count up to make this post. I recently purchased my 2006 Onyx Maxima, with black leather interior, DPP, and 6 speed manual. Upon delivery of the car, 2 of the few modifications I wanted to do to the car were already delivered with the car, a Stillen CAI, and window tint. I dont know how a brand new car comes with a CAI and tint, but mine did.

I have always been a honda guy, I've had 3 acura integras in my past, the last one being my pride and joy for nearly 4 years. I got in a little over my head, a little more modified then I wanted, and I didnt want to use it as my daily driver anymore (driving a 300 whp honda for a daily driver isnt all that great lol). I needed something a little nicer, with more space and a lot more features that will come in handy in the future (4 door). Never know when I might need that baby seat So I decided on the 6th Gen Maxima.

I only had 4 things in mind when I thought of modifying this one to my liking, Tint, CAI, a nice sub/amp to top off the bose system, and Wheels. I now have 3 of the 4, with my purchase this weekend of an MTX Thunder 5500 10" sub with a kicker amp in a ported box. So we have arrived at the wheels. It will be awhile before I purchase them, but I need to know a little of the basics. I have tried searching over this board and the internet as a whole for the lug pattern on our cars, but the wheels I have in mind are either the 350z nismo wheels or the maxima nismo wheels. I prefer the 350z ones, but I dont know if we have the same lug pattern or anything like that.

If anybody else has any suggestions or any info about my car I should know, please inform me. I apologize for any future dumb questions I might ask, I am here to learn.

Thanks,

Brian

Stillen has a CAI for you guys?

Lug pattern is the same, (5x114.3) just watch for offsets ...

Check the tire and wheel forum on the lower part of the main page of this forum or check tirerack.com for detailed dimensional analysis and what offsets etc mean to you.

I guarantee most if not all your questions are answered in the STICKIES

so you must have read everywhere but where you should have looked first (maybe that's why they're first?? )

Your new car is either used or a demo to have tint and a stillen installed. Nothing wrong with that because it's done and you may have gotten the car for a lower price? Welcome to the Org and like Nismo said, look at the stickies, also check the main page index for the tires and wheel threads.

You should also consider replacing the hollow original equpment rear anti-sway bar with a Cattman solid bar. Improves handling. Good Luck and Welcome.

...yeah, plus a couple thousand extra in other parts! I love that engine bay!

Did you say that you have the MTX Thunder now? I wanted to drop a sub in my trunk too, but didn't know if an 8 or 10 would better complement the Bose. I'm guessing that a neighborhood of 200 watts would suffice. But I wanted some opinions there. How does your MTX sound, does it overpower the Bose at all?

Thanks for the engine bay props. No that was not me with the MTX Thunder it's someone else. Don't want to OT, but here is an updated engine bay shot.

I just installed a 12" Kicker Solo-Baric in a ported box along with a Kicker KX350.2 amp, sounds incredible.

This what I installed in the trunk. I also have a set of tweeters on the left and right side on the top of the windshield. There is so many mods that you can do to your Max. Just check out the posts for ideas. There are many members here who can help you out.

BTW I brought a 1987 integra and had it for 13 years. I loved it but wanted a new car.

My nitrous.

No mine looks like this:

Exactly like that. That image is straight of stillen's website.

Thanks everybody for the welcome.

9Nails: Yeah, I have the bose and I am really more into the music then the bass, so I considered the 8 or the 10, since I was just looking for mild bass to compliment my music, and I dont regret my setup at all, I went with the 10" MTX Thunder sub and a Kicker 250.2 amp. I bought it from Circuit City, might be able to find the same setup at your local Circuit City, not sure, but I have no complaints about it at all, it compliments the bose system nicer then I could have ever asked for. It doesnt drown it out at all.

Nismo: Sorry man, didnt mean to come off as a n00b, I will check the stickies from now on before posting.

I dont know if the car was either one of those, but I know when I took delivery of it, it had 500 miles on it, and the dealership I bought it from drove it 250+ to get it here for me. It was no problem for me, as they extended my warranty to 5 year, 60,500, because of the extra miles.

With all the options I had on it, the MSRP was 33,000, I got it from them for 28 out the door, so yeah I got it for a little lower price.

Thanks for the advice on the wheels, Ill do that.

I'm I seeing that right? Do you have a 100 watt 12" sub powered by a 300 watt amp?! (If I'm not mistaken, peak ratings are; 400 watt Max on the sub with 600W max x1 into 4 ohms for the amp, or 1000W max x1 into 2 ohms.) How hard does that hit?!

This is what I have. I do not have the specs at this time. I have to look for the paper work.

Pioneer 1000 watt amp

Pioneer 400 watt bass-reflex subwoofer

Has anyone added a single 10" or 8" with less than 250watts RMS? How good does that sound with Premium Audio Package Bose, (8 speakers) or is it not quite enough? I know Bose pushed something like 460 watts peak to the 8 speakers right? I was thinking about glassing a box on the left side of my trunk, but wasn't sure what power levels and speaker size I can get away with.

Mine is basically what you described.

250.2, turned almost all the way down on the amp, and on -2 on the stereo, it sounds terrific.
