replacement wipers?

The OEM wipers have convinced me once and for all that they're made out of the cheapest crap that Nissan could find... Nothing says "we're commited to quality" like $1 wiper blade inserts on a $30k car... although I'm convinced that they're not even worth $1...

Anybody has any suggestions for replacements?

Like I said, they feel cheap-o and don't work worth a damn during heavy rain... Even with Rain-X, I find myself having to put the thing on "berserk mode" just to move the water out.

Maybe it's my car, or maybe the blades... doubt it though, since I just had Nissan replace them last week and the new ones (unless they didn't change them) work just as bad as the old ones did.

That's why I'm looking for replacements.

Yeah, even after 1.2 years mine are still working well (although it is probably time to change them).

Has anyone tried any of the silicon blades? I've heard that they are excellant, and last a lot longer.

A friend of mine suggested these because he replaced all his Nissan vehicles with them, PIAA Wiper Blades (silicone based). When its time for me to change over I will switch to these for sure.

I found a great replacement blade. It is called Sil-Blade. It is made of surgical silicone and is reported to last 5 years. I have had them on two vehicles for about a year and they show little wear. If I can find the website again I will post a link. They are not cheap (around $20 for the blade and wiper) but even my wife who is definitely not a car person noticed how well they worked.

My blades are also fine. Clear the water effectively, including at speed, and are reasonably quiet. Have no idea what your problem is...

Yep, when it is time to change, that is what I am looking at also. I still find the stock ones work fine for me...and this is in Mississippi, we know rain pretty well. Bosch makes some good ones also.

24,000+ miles and 14 months and mine are still golden.

I have a personal thing against Rain-X, though. It puts a film on your windshield that's supposed to repel rain, but it makes it look like it's fogged up half the time. I hate it. And it's a biottch to get off ... you practically have to use steel wool to get rid of it. I'd never ever use that crap on my windshield again.

i got some bosch ones, and they suck...i think you can get lucky or unlucky on the quality of a wiper...any auto store will have wipers for the car.

Interesting that 2 different people purchased the same wipers and two different outcomes!

i love the ICONS. I was fine with the oem until gusting winds wouldn't let them touch my window and sheets of water obscured my vission.

My blades work fine. Crappy blades would leave streaks and smudge every time it makes a pass on the windshield. This is also a sign of blades being worn out and needed to be replaced. Mine work fine though, no streaks or smudges. I also use rain x.

I know what you mean, this is the problem I had many years ago along with the rain x looking like its shmuging. However, they have changed their formula and it works great now. Also to get it off, the parts store sells a windshield conditioner that you can buy. Just rub it on, let it sit there for a while and wash it off. Works good.

my oem wipers suck...i think part of the reason is because the wiper fluid they fill your car with is supposed to be mixed with water, otherwise it screws up your blades. This is a fact by the way not an assumption.

I agree never use Rain-X again, I have used Anco blades & refills, for the last 40 years, wipe clear, good price, long lasting

Greg, Auotozone has them for total of $43 a set. You need 18" (418A) for passanger side and 26" (426A) for driver side. If they don't have 26" get 24" there is no noticable difference. They have to be Icons though not regular bosch. I drive on a highway a lot and they just so much better then regular wiper especialy at high speeds.
Amazon is one place you can get them from:
