Possible tranny issue, help?!?

So when I put my car in reverse now it idles a bit rougher and makes a strange clicking type noise? Doesn't sound like metal grinding or anything. The RPM's also vary up and down a bit, any thoughts guys??

Sounds like an issue for stealership to correct for you. Once, just once, I jumped on the freeway and gunned it to get up to speed and just as I did that, everyone came to a screaming stop, and my tranny revved hard (about 4000rpms) for about 3 seconds. It reminded of what my ford would do when the tranny was slipping, but I firmly believe this was the odd situation I was in. (I'm praying that is the last time I run into this issue)!

Last time I saw the RPM jumped up and down, the alternator was on the way out. But you should let the dealer find out.

Well it's not revving out at all or slipping (reminds me of my old ford, hmmm) And the RPM's jump just barely, maybe I made it sound worse than it is. More than anything it just sounds like it's running rougher...
Oddly enough I noticed it after I put on my FSTB and grounding kit, know it's not the FSTB but could it have anything to so with the grounding kit??

Hope the stealership doesn't hassle me about mods!

The FSTB needs more than 1/2 inch clearance from the manifold.

if you beat your motor up there could be oil blow by in your intakes and plenum.
causing that to clog up the upper half of the motor.
i used seafoam on mine to clean it up a little and i have a breather filter on the valve covers which i'm soon to replace with a oil catch can.

if you don't believe your motor's a little gukked up then check all the bolts on the plenum and surounding piping.
or check for hose leakage???

iunno just my guess.

the grounding kit will raise a flag with the dealer because supposedly you're "not supposed to put the kit on the tranny" because it may mess up the whole electronic factor of well.... an electronic transmission.

i think that's b.s. because right after i slapped that kit on mine i noticed increased power.

That's good to know, I don't know if I was imagining things or not but my car does seem a bit quicker than before...

The engine moves enough for top of the manifold to hit the FSTB and create noise. It hapened to me. And if you adjust it too high, it will hit the botom of the hood and make noise when connering or turning. Mine is at about 1/2 inch above the top of manifold. It still hit the hood a little if I conner really hard, that's why I would change if someone(Cattman?) comes out w/ stiffer bar. I put little pads under the hood where the bar hit against to stop the noise.

Thanks RH, sounds like you solved my problem. AKA said that his rubbed on the hood, I installed mine and it didn't I was stoked at first but now I know I need to make an adjustment so it probably does hit the hood...thanks!
