Short shifter for 6 speed?

Is there any way to shorten the shifter on a 6 speed. I hate the way it sticks up. I love the short shifter on the Z.

Yup there is one out there. I can't remember who's selling them. Someone else can chime in with the place that is currently selling them. SCO maybe?

Im talking about a cut-down shift stick, not a shorter throw. Just clarifying.

Harvey (hct67) cut his shift rod way down on his 5.5 Gen 6 speed and it didn't affect the reverse ring. I believe y'all should be able to do something along those lines. IIRC he had a couple threads floating around about that.

my reverse lock broke, but i got used to it after about thirty minutes of driving, and have seriously been considering cutting about 1.5-2" off that pole of a shifter.

Yeah 5AT

I hear about the 5At but not the 6mt.

I would do mine if I knew reverse lockout worked proper.

The only thing that would suck would be threading the cut down shifter. We have to have the threads with the stock **** but an aftermarket one would work without them.

You could also use a tap and die set to do it yourself, just gotta find the thread specs of the shifter.

i can get the thread specs, but you would have to grind down the shifter because it gets a lot thicker when you get lower.

Someone is going to HAVE to machine a new piece that accounts for the thread pitch and fits into the lower linkage below the shifter and accomodates the reverse lockout. Possibly one alternative is to cut a middle piece out and weld the threaded area onto the lower part. But that seems cheesy to me
