A little air freshener tip. (stealth)

Hey guys. I hope that this thread doesn't get booted for it's simplicity.

Okay here it goes. I personally like my car to smell good but I also hate air fresheners that hang from the rearview. I have tried all kinds from the cans to the bags etc. The other day I was in Lowes and I noticed near the heater filters something called french scents. It is designed to go into the heater air filter of your house. I thoght for a second and it hit me, Why don't I put this into the in-cabin filter. I placed it on top of the filter so it would not get caught in the fan. The results were a great smelling car with the scent coming from the vents. The air freshener is made like a thin pad about 4x6". It fits perfectly on top of the vent. I ripped off a few strips so the air will flow better. You really only need 1 or 2 strips. Whenever people get in my car they ask where the scent is coming from. If you use the whole thing it gets stronger by the strip. It smells great with the heat on of course but, it also smells good when you get into your car.

its behind the glove box..

remove both kicker panels on the passenger side, and after that there are 7 screws, that takes the whole box down. be carefull when pulling it down though since there are light harnesses attached to it..

after that you have access to the filter in a black box that says so.

my friend put a dryer towel in there, the cars smells like a loundry lol..

Tek,
when are you gonna stop making everyone dissasemble their entire glove box? the manual shows the simplest way. I don't recall any screws need to be removed.

There are two tabs under your glove box. Slide them out. Then open your glove box. You will have to move it at an angle to get it out. The box is right there when the glove box comes off. Pull the two clamp like things off and there you will see a white cardboard looking thing. Slide it out and add the freshener to the filter. Make sure you put it on the upside (toward the windshield). If you put it on the fan side it will get in there and everytime you turn on the fan the car will rumble like crazy. As for the new car smell I don't know if you will loose it. I know the smell I get is great. It beats the fart smell from when you hit the gas hard lol.

Go to al-Mart in the cleaning isle and get the Glade plug-in packets. They are small cheap and come in a variety of flavors. I just throw it in the side door compartment and the heat from the sun will activate it. I personnaly like the Tropical Brezze scent myself. Just my 2cents.

That's a good point. I just wanted something that would freshen the car all the time. I would also say that you could put any freshener in this area that is flat. I also like the fact that it is never seen because I'm always reching for something in the door like papers etc. Thanks for that tip cause I may try putting that in there and see how it works.

Glad it worked for you. You could cut it in half and put the the rest back in the wrapping tightly and it will hold it's strength.

Thanks it's simple but very effective. Now to work on making my own in-cabin filter. Just want to save us a few bucks if possible.
