Need some help on ticking noise

OK, I know this was posted before because I read it, but I can't seem to find it now. I am getting a weird ticking noise from the front of the car. I only hear it in a garage, alley or drive up, iguess it's because of the acoustics in those areas. I already know about the TSB for the exhaust but its not that, I hear it when I let the car roll forward without pressing on the gas. I remember something about a cotter pin being bent wrong and had to be replaced. I know some poeple had the same issue and brought it in so I am hoping someone can elaberate on this. What cotter pin and where. Thanks

i brought my car in to the dealership like 2 years ago for this problem. They said it was some pin by the front driver side wheel. I don't really remember..sorry. I think if you bring your car in they will figure it out for you.

Could it be the cotter pin locking the wheel bearing nut? I am looking at the service manual and that's the only cotter pin, at least that I have found, in the front drive line...

Found it! It was the cotter pin holding the wheel bearing nut. Simple fix and you don't even have to take off the wheel... Pop of the center cap and look inside and there is the cotter pin bend that put the center cap back on and your done. Save some time from going to the dealer.

Thanks for that I just did mine. People thought I was crazy when I told them about it. Funny thing is I had the same problem with my expedition but it was a bell ringing type noise. Turns out to be the same just a ticking noise in the max.

Glad to help. I know it's covered by the warrenty but I would rather spend 5 min vs 1 hr or more at the dealer.
