Helical limited-slip differential, installed option???
Helical limited-slip differential, installed option???
Anyone know how i could tell if i have the 'Helical limited-slip differential' option installed on my 04 Maxima?
I need to do my 30k maintenance, now a little over that, but on the maintenance schedule it says for the PM1 Maintenance sched to change differential oil out. It's not show as an installed option on my window sticker that the dealship made, but i needed to confirm since I bought it used, so I spoke to the Service Advisor when my car was in for service and he couldn't tell me, even by the VIN, so I was told to call Nissan and ask them (Honestly, i get quicker, more detailed answers from you guys than Nissan themselves most of the time, oddly enough!
)
So I Spoke with two difference reps at Nissan who also didn't have the info. They looked up my VIN and said it wouldn't show on their system because it would have been an Option, which wouldn't show up under the VIN.. Sounds kind of odd to me actually, but they passed the information along to some Techs there. Haven't yet gotten a response back.
Instead of messin' with Nissan and waiting, anyone know how I can tell?

The answers are all here and all you have to do is put forth a little effort to find them. That way you get your answers much quicker and learn more along the way.

I'm not going to getting into a battle back and forth, so I'll leave it at this. As I stated, thanks for the links.
Every 6 speed in Canada automagically got the LSD.
As for the service requirement to change the differential oil. I took my car in for that service and they said that it is not serviceable by itself like the differential on an Xterra/Pathfinder. It shares the same fluid as the manual transmission. If you change the transmission fluid you essentially change the differential fluid as well. There is no need to change the transmission fluid so soon. So...you can wait a bit or go ahead. All your choice.
Hope that helped.
