Question on lowering

So, as far as lowering goes, is there basically two main options, getting lowering springs or coilovers?

Just curious, since I remember you can do the Eibach (or equivalent) springs... or go full K-Sport (or equivalent) coilovers. But I remember people having issues with just doing the springs on the stock struts... what else would I have to purchase to avoid that problem?

And if I were to go the coilover route, would that take care of everything in one package, with no need for additional items?

coils are all one, no need for anything else...

you will need struts anyways down the line, so do the math on that, if you can get the coils for a cheap price here on the GB go for it..

just an FYI, we dropped GEC's car this weekend with progress springs and it felt real good and pretty firm.

I guess it depends what your budget is..

So you'd need struts whether you get the coilovers or just the springs? If going with just the Eibach springs, how long really would it last before needing struts, and do they have those yet for 6th gens? I think they do... Would it make sense to get struts with the springs, or just stay on stock struts until they start to go?

Ive been on Eibachs for almost 3 years. I can say that the stock struts WILL NOT last very long with lowering springs. Maybe 10-15k but they really start to get bouncy and it sucks. If you dont want any problems then do everything at once instead of being cheap and doing just the springs.

Hey logik05se I noticed that you have a spirited bronxe max, by any chance did you enter the belt from the Canarsie Pier (heading east) on Sunday morning at about 12:35 AM?

I use to say buy these over the Ksports but they only adjust ride height, you can't adjust the dampening.

So if you go with the K-Sport or D2 coilovers, that takes care of the problems with the struts going bad as well as springs? So you can either do coilovers only, or springs/struts and come out with the same effect?

yep.... coils are done, no need to get struts..

springs are just springs, need struts..

do your homework though, you can probably get coils cheaper..

Yah, there's no rush to get them... same way i got the wheels for about half the normal price... just looking around all the time! So K-Sport and D2 are the brands to look for?

I read a post yesterday on another site that reviewed MR coilovers and compared them to ksport and others:

http://www.zilvia.net/f/printthread....1&page=2&pp=30

This guy had a really bad experience with the ksports and really liked the MR coilovers better. He compared to other coilovers and basicaly said tiens were the best except for the fact that you can't adjust much. I checked tiens site and they are developing super street coilovers for the max which are mondo adjustable and support the electronic interface. I think I'll hold out for those

Yeah I read about the super street coilovers somewhere as well. I know that the Basics are the only ones available right now. I got my Ksports for a good price so im not complaining. If I dont like the ride I can just go back to my old setup.
