When I had my heavily tinted Supra years ago, I used significantly higher wattage bulbs in the reverse lamps.
They worked quite well and as they are only on for short periods, there was no worries about melting the housing.

Are you talking about being able to see? Cuase I've never really used my reverse lights to see (is that what they are designed for??) I always thought it was just to let someone know you are backing up!! I put LED's as well and it is bright but by no means "guiding light"

Since I tinted my tail lights, I want to make the bulbs back there brighter. WHats the best way to do that?

There are 50W halogen bulbs available to replace standard sized 11W backup lamps. I haven't seen them in our size on the shelf lately.

I had them on my last car and forgot to pull them when I sold them. Bright as hell. No melting issues since they are on for such a short period of time.
