Whatever happened to your ride was not a result of a Puddle!!! The Injen CAI was my first mod over 2 yrs ago in my 04 and I have had it out in some nasty rainy weather as well as long road trips during bad weather. Maybe the water in your system came through the gas tank vice the intake. Need pictures and proof!!!

it could have been, if it was deep enough it could have been enough to get in there since his car is way lower than ours..

Well, first off this is why I would NEVER buy a CAI unless it was the one like NISMO sells (diaphragm to prevent this). That's why I went with a Jim Wolf Pop Charger intake instead.

Now, I had a Ford Supercoupe with a 3.8L supercharged/intercooled engine. My wife decided to try to go through some water one day (heavy rain...flooding in the street) and...you guessed it...suck...stall...start....click-clunk....click-clunk. Bent a rod!

Anyway, my insurance at the time WAS going to cover it BUT I did not install an aftermarket intake on it either! Ford ended up picking this up since it was still under warranty and was considered a design defect (that was a $10,000 engine supercharger and intercooler combo)!

Anyway, it is worth a shot to call up your insurance company. Mine (either Allstate or Nationwide I think) WAS going to pick it up.

Hope this helps!

He did say the puddle came out of nowhere so I guess he splashed enough water to get into the CAI.

I had a ford suffer flood damage and State Farm covered the repairs. They even covered rebuilding the tranny 8 months later because it went bad from water damage. The ford dealer said the tranny was OK...that's why I'll never buy a ford again.

where is your intake's inlet? Most CAI's here are sitting on the airbox...so you would have had to been in a puddle that was up to the sideview mirrors for that to have been submerged

if he has the injen, fujita, or the aem, the filter would be right under the headlight on the driver's side, and sligtly above the corner light.

so the water would have been atleast a 1' 1/2 up on the car, or less since his car is lower..

To my knowledge the inlet for most Cold Air Intakes sit extremely low, in the case of Fujita it is hangs below the level of the headlight.

I was exaggerating...but still..dont you guys agree it is still higher then the door sills? Imagine water up to the headlights...it seems to me you would have flooding occur in the cabin as well.

Correct me if I'm wrong in anyway - moral of the story is do NOT drive in puddles that reach the top of your bumper and/or the bottom of your headlights if you have a CAI. Is that a fair statement?

Regular type rain and puddels are ok, flash floods not so good.

I'm asking because I'm debating on whether or not to get the fuijita CAI.
