GI: LED taillights...help me conceptualize!
Alright, well...with the meets soon to be done, LED assemblies done, and the interior overhual damn near done, it's time for a new project. I am considering making some LED taillights for the 6th gen. Now, before I begin, would anyone actually be interested? The top part would be the brake, the middle section the turn...I presume that's how your lights work, correct? They would be about $350 a pair, probably setting up a core exchange probgram. Is that how the lights work?
NOTE: Why the 6th gen and not the 5th or 4th? 4th gen already has other members whom do this, I am not going to rain in on their parade. 5th gen is just a silly amount of work to do this. 6th gen has a VERY easy shape to work with...

As long as they don't look like the ones on CE's website...

$350 is kinda steep for a core swap though...

ok so yeah to get the ball rollin...how about making the reverse light circle a turn signal light instead, next install this white led lightbar in the center bottom of trunk hatch ,going all the way across, for reverse. Then do the tail segments all red led's. too much? Oh yeah...it has to have leds behind the side reflector also.

No, it would be a retrofit into the OEM housings, utilizing the reflectors.
I don't have a sixth gen, the top is brake, the middle is turn, the bottom is nothing, correct?
$350 sounds steep, but, with all due respects, these take ALOT of work to do.

But I could be wrong... it probably is worth the $350. I just figured it was steep because those "things" that CE sells are $350.

Yes...
Your set up is correct....
Now what I would like to see... (and fill the bottom w/ LED's too)
The whole thing lites up Parking
The whole thing lites up Brake
It divides and flashes when Turn & brake.
No cheesy patterning.

I was wondering about this.
Well, I can't remember which way which is setup, but one year the turn and brake rows switched. But having the turns in the center row sounds good.
I suggest 6 horizontal rows in each assembly (3 per section). And just leave the bottom as the reflector.
$350 does seem steep, but everyone consider the amount of work put into this with a lot of wiring and bulbs. I would eventually get a pair, but not anytime soon b/c of financial reasons. Unless I can be a guinea pig
Also, you should work on a 3rd brake light LED and possibly something for the reverse, though they could just get the towers.
what would be best? white leds for brightness, or red? I remember the 5th gen section about different ones with different power levels.

Red LED's behind... Same lens & LED color provides the best output.
How's about this...
Section I: Brake/Park
Section II: Brake/Park
Section III: Park/Turn

Metal I am down for this mod (LED *****!) unless the '07 already has them then people might head that route to stay OEM (not sure how much stocks would cost though or look) Actually I have a good Nissan parts hookup so I could get them for cheap or free..
Oh and I have the red LED towers in mine and they are super bright.
Bottom row would be nice for a running light as well, light'er up!!

Metal,
Quick question, will the tails be full LED or a "hybrid" standard bulb plus led to get past the low voltage to flasher ect.. If they are a full LED what will I have to do to take care of the flasher issues. Sorry for the dumb questions
