05 SL How long should rotors "last?"
05 Max with 28K...90% of which is a 100 mile highway roundtrip commute. Minimal stop-and-go... About 6K ago, I started getting the shake under light braking....dealer found rear rotors run out was out of spec. They turned them, and it went away until now. Shake's back. So the issue is, considering how little braking I actually do, how long should the rotors last? Even though I was told that the dealer used a torque wrench when remounting the tires, should I do it myself? On one of the other "shimmy" threads, someone used 300zx calipers and the shake went away. Are the parts that interchangeable among Nissan products and is it worthwhile to try them to fix some of these bugs?

Our rotors are crap. I had the dealers put new rotors on mine when I had only around 2,000 miles on them, I now have about 12,000 on the new ones and the pulsating braking is back. I plan on running them until I can't stand it anymore and then have them turned. I hope to get about 30,000 out of these and then I will pay to upgrade into a better quality rotor and pad. I drive the same amount as you, @ 100 miles per day with a little city driving mixed in. Don't sweat it, its "normal" for our Maxs' brakes to suck.

Misery loves company, I guess. Who are people using for aftermarket rotors? I do not do any demanding driving....real mainstream stuff.
