The stock grille

Well, folks, I decided that I had to say this, so I'm putting on my flame-proof suit and strapping on my Kevlar. I know many of you dislike the stock grille, but my position is different. The typical stock grille is to me, an unlovely thing--consisting usually of some sort of mesh with various coatings. (Plastic bars are also very popular.) I think it can fairly be said that the average grille is a gross injustice by comparison to the rest of the vehicle possessing it. Along comes the 6th gen, and it has the ingredients of a fabulous grille--no wire mesh or billets here! Only problem is with the metal plate ("tooth") in its midst, but otherwise, a major stylistic accomplishment. I just wish they'd left out the tooth, and if I could buy a "toothless" replacement that continued the stock teeth across the center of the grille, I would buy it immediately...

what are you talking about...... I don't understand what tooth you are talking about..... there are billets in the stock grill..... not teeth.... maybe we are talking about the same thing, not really sure..... pics would deffinitly help in explaining..... I love the stock grill that's why I am removing and painting it..... I will post pics when it's done.... before and after of course..... I think the only thing really wrong with it is the coating they put on.... I removed the outside and left the billets coated..... looks great and I get alot of complements even from maxima owners......

I agree with lobewiper. The Maxima's stock grille is great, because it gives the front end great texture, and is really sporty. It is just enough to compliment the car's design, and not overwhelm it.

P.S. I believe the "tooth" lobewiper is talking about is the square that surrounds the "Nissan" logo in the middle.

Yes, that's it. Thanks for pointing that out...Great to hear others like it, too.

only downfall to me is that it is chromed plastic. therefore it ships horribly.

what you are asking for in design would be a chromed oem Altima grille.

Some people like it, some people hate it... the good thing about it is that it's easy enough to replace, and cheap enough that you can rock a different grille every few months if you want to, or stay stock and call it a day.

In the last week I've seen a silver and a black 6th gen on the FDR (brave!), huge chrome rims, dark tints, the works... and stock grilles. Best thing is that people have the options out there to suit their tastes... if you like stock, rock it until the wheels fall off.

I agree with viguera if you like it stock keep it stock...... I want a sleeper so stock is the way I want to go at least for now...... until I make myself known which in a way I allready have then I will keep the stock look..... I so want to change it all but I have time for appearence..... right now I want a turbo.... so the grill stays..... if you decide to keep the stock grill I recommend at least taking it off and clearcoating it a couple times to keep it from chipping like crazy.....

I actually thought my stock grill looked batter after I put on the Redlinemax bumper. As NismoMax80 sais I didn't like the chromed plastic...
And for the record the stock grill has one big tooth and a bunch of baby teeth!!!
