I hope you changed the oil a couple of times. I'm almost at 60,000 miles,. I have a shop that does my work here in Brookyn, NY. There has to be a place where you live where you don't have go to the dealer.

I would suggest that you change the power steering and brake fluid. I just did.

Im at 60k....
http://nissanusa.com/owning/vehicle_...schedules.html

Interesting to note: it is optional to flush and replace transmission fluid....all the way up to 120,000mi. Mine is shifting fine and the fluid is expensive so im not changing it.

I am very easy on my car...i follow schedule 2
Oil change ever 3500k
Flush coolant at 60k
Plugs at 105k
Timing belt at 105k

Thats all there is to it....Ill get a new car before I get to 105k anyway...this car is pretty much maint. free per nissan's site.

I just went to get tranny flush and they told me to wait till 60k because that's what is recommended..... If I don't get it done by 60k I risk voiding my drivetrain warrenty..... not going to do that..... ohh and tranny fluid for the 5speed auto is $9.14 a quart..... and it takes 12 quarts.... not to mention the service costs money too.... looking at allmost 200 dollars to change fluid.... rediculous..... also the guy said just do the 30k tune up at 60k doesn't really need to be done at 30k but should be done at least by 60k.... he said really all you need to do up to 60k is change oil every 3-6k miles and change cabin filter.... which is easy and costs less than 40 dollars....

I was wondering, how often do you have to change the brake fluid?

Considering that the drivetrain warranty expires at 60K miles, I'm not sure how not changing your fluid by 60K would void it.

i would just do the tranny fluid change not just a top off or a half fill. i would do the whole tranny flush and top off with new fluids other than that i wont pay any more money for any other maintainess. your tranny is the most important thing next to the engine but you really dont have to pay anybody to see if you have oil in your engine or your radiator is full or some simple stuff like that. just my 2 cents

Some may have extended warranty. I have up to 75K and you can go as high as 100K. I believe that could be the reason.

I just went over 30K and am faced with the same dillema. I called the dealer and he said that transmission flush is about $180 and that there are two types of fluids and if it required some special fluid it would cost $260

Ain't that some sh...?

How long before you guys change brake fluid and do the break flush.

Oh, one more funny thing. When I was buying a car, brand new (came with 7 miles) I was told first maintenance is 105K. I though it would be oil changes only untill then which I have been performing every 6K with mobil 1 syn***ic and mobil 1 filter. This week I opened the maintenace book and it shows: brake flush, transmission flush, change hoses at 60k. change belts....WTF I though its maintenace free up to 105K

Alot of people on here are hypersensitive about changing every fluid in the car every 30k it seems...not that its a bad thing, i mean you can change the coolant, brake fluid, tranny fluid, power steering fluid, etc etc...but all you are doing is putting money in the hands of whoever is doing it...look at the manual...it is not even needed. If you are taking the car to the track every weekend thats different, but under normal conditions you can honetly driver to 120k and never do anything but change the oil.

I'll look into changing more then the oil and filter after I pass 60k and thats if I still have the car, I can't afford a car if I go by what the dealer wants
