I realize modding is mucho fun.
But keep in mind those red lights were not for illumination or decoration; they are to save your life when you open your car door at night and a vehicle is coming up beside you. They see the red light and hopefully take evasive action. The clear or white light is much less likely to get their attention.
But then modding always takes precedence over safety.

light as always coming with the reality check for us "damn kids" lol!! Now I'm not going to say that I never park my car on a busy street, but it is rare and especially at night (usually in a parking lot, try not to park on the street whenever possible) Plus I know someone who's had a door ripped off so I take extra care always when opening my doors!!!

jsmithsole right-on. The red lights are only of use if the driver is one who parallel parks beside the curb, then swings his door open without looking to see if anything is coming. They could even be referred to as 'idiot lights'.
