Sounds System

In reference to:

http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....1+Bose+adaptor

Hey guys, just got my maxima [upgraded from a turboed civic] and the modding bug has bit me already. I've just finished installing my CAI and it feels nice. Now I want to add a amp/sub to the factory bose. I am debating about getting the PAC AOEM-NIS2 adapter or as ive read also, a LOC would work. For the ones that have a system installed, where did you mount the amp? I am thinking of putting it under the pass seat or mount it to the underside of the trunk. Already ordered a RF 4guage amp wiring kit. For the people that have used the PAC or LOC, is the sound quality noticibly better on the PAC part? TIA

just make sure there's enough clearance under the seat for the amps. i have my amps mounted on a baffle that's attached to the box.

as for the PAC or LOC...not sure...not using one. i'm sure someone will chime in though.

you can mount them anywhere really....just give them sufficient airspace for proper cooling and you'll be alright.

I mounted mine on the fold down seat. Not a whole lot of air between the seat and the box in the trunk but I've never had any problems.

Sorry, no pics of the amp, but it sits behind this box:

Stock 6 disc system with MTX amp and subs. Dealer just tapped into existing sub wires (not sure how). I have a seperate sub volume **** up front. Works just fine.

Volume ****? You sure you don't mean bass boost ****?

Technically it's called a remote gain control. It controls the volume of the amp, not the "boost" (ie 12db at 40hz or anything like that). The bass boost is controlled on the amp itself via another ****.

Sorry, no pic on that. I don't think it was a hard thing to do. I had 2 or 3 different shops tell me thats how they would hook me up. Just tell them you want to tap into the existing subs to run your amp. I think they used the high level inputs on the amp.

Hey Noob, Welcome and good luck on your sound system, no matter what you do to the stock system it will for sure be a big improvement. Go to the audi forums and take a peek at what others are doing and saying. Just remember its your ride so make it the way you want it. Be original!!

Keep Krusin,
