Trenz Grill & MPG

I'm sure this is just a coincidence, however, a month and a half ago I installed a Trenz billet grill and my gas mileage has dropped about 1.5 mpg (from an average 23.5mpg to 22mpg). I've always been **** about keeping track of my mileage on all my cars and for the last three tank fill-ups it's gone down. Temperature has been the same (hotter than hell), driving still the same and just went over 10K miles.

I have the Trenz too, actually just polished it up with Mothers aluminum and mag polish and WOW it looks brand new again. As for your MPG thing...

You need a new Kneutson Valve and most likely your Muffler Bearings are shot. Get that looked at ASAP...

That's a hugh different from just a grille. Have you switch gas station? Has the gas station switch distributor? Is it different formular, richer in ethanol?

Check the grille sensor...when you removed the stock grille and put the Trenz one in, the grille sensor wont detect the aftermarket grille. The grille sensor monitors how much air hits it, and then recalculates the Air/Fuel ratio...better put the stock grille back on.

You know i'm jokin', right?

The lines in the Tenzo collects and holds more air therefore adding more weight, therefore crappin on your MPG. The stock is more aerodynamic and actually pushes the air out of the way due to Nissan's R&D and should therefore be placed back asap before your problem gets worse.

true story.

really it's not, I don't know what to tell you guy.

So in essence, adding a Trenz grille dissipates the balancing effect of the atmospheric data collector. Can't a simulator fix the false signals being given to the ECU?

Has the wind changed direction and is now head-on? That would account for the 1.5 MPG drop.

Another theory, the added weight of the Trenz grill over the plastic of the OEM grill. Hmmmmm.

Too confusing so I'm just gonna...

I agree. He should chop one hand off to provide a suitable trade-off in weight.

If that looks OK, I would check the charge on the flux capacitor.

Also, a little bit of Nitrous Oxide in the mix never hurts for daily excursions.

i would never have thought a grille could make your MPG go down...unless it weights lik 300 lbs...
