Having Alternator Issues or Issues With My Remote Start Alarm....

....I have the Clifford Matrix 3.5 which allows you to remote start the car. I've had it for as long as I've had the car which this month, in a few days as a matter of fact it'll be 2 years since I've had the car. Anyways, everything's been good up until this morning. As I went to go out I tried remote starting the car and all of a suddent it wouldn't do so. It did the "clicking" noise when your alternator is having problems. So I tried it again, and again same result. Radio and everythng else turned on, minus the actual car. So I tried it manually, and it took me 2 times for me to finally get the car on, but it sounded as if the car struggled to go on. It's pretty much been like that all day. I don't know whether it is the alternator, or it has to do with the remote starter not letting the alternator charge the battery or whatever. Someone have any clues as to what this might be or have any idea as to what I'm talking about? I don't know what to do here. All help/suggestions is greatly welcomed and appreciated it.

Really?? I had installed there as well. I just went out and bought a new battery cause I was able to pin point that it wasn't the alternator but the battery itself, and of course now with the new battery the issue has been resolved. BTW, where you at Dadeland on Sunday because there was a Maxima parked there that looked exactly like yours?

I was at the Macy's parking deck... with the wife shopping...

Nah, I usually have it valet parked. I just parked inside the garage this one time cause I was in a hurry. As far as taking my girl's car, hahaha, her car outdoes the Maxima in every/any way imaginable. My car costs only a quarter of what hers did.

I have heard from several different mechanics that remote starts eventually ruin the battery, alternator and starter, due to the way it draws power. Thats what they said, and in my last car which was a 4th gen, I had the remote start and all of these things did end up failing. I had to replace the battery, alternator and starter. Coincedence? I dont know for sure, but I believe the mechanics now.

Very interesting. Funny how no one warns you about all that though.

Although they tend to ruin the battery, starter and alternator, I STILL would rather have one installed. In my opinion, the convenience of the remote start outways the negative effects and is still worth it. Just my .02 cents

There was a recall on the Alternator, if I remember correctly. The batteries suck, replace mine at aorund 24K with a diehard that lasted utnil I got rid the car at 130K. The starter could be because of bunch of reason not related to a remote start or they had it programmed wrong. Anywhoooo reliability is based 90% install 10% equipment, as long as you go with major brands...
