To anyone who's done 6th gen chassis foaming
I have read through alot of threads on foaming and am looking for advise from anyone who has done a 6th gen. What parts have you done and how? Do you foam the front and rear suspension members? What parts did you have to plug to prevent leakage and so forth. I would like to do this but have not found enough specific info to make me not worry about breaking something or having foam leak through to a different part. Pics would be awesome if you have them.
The foaming I read about is to fill the frame rails under the car with foam to add stiffness to the frame. This is probably like window insulation that can ooze out, end up in other components and interfere. Not sure of benefit for street car? Foam will probably go brittle in no time unless you get some 3M like product tested for cars and made to flex.
They make products specifically for car applications. This has been discussed in various threads on the org but I am looking for answers I didn't find. I thought I saw some 6th gens with it, I guess I will have to go through and check.
i have heard of this and read of this before. it is two liquids that you pour together and then pour into holes in the frame like your b-pillars or what not and within a hour or so they harden, from what ive read a lot of tuner cars and drift cars do this for added riggidity and it supposedly works really well, as long as you know what you are doing. shouldn't be to hard, just leave the hole at the top where you pour open so when there is no more room to expand the foam as some place to go. shouldn't hurt anything.
