I was wondering how to fix the rattles of the rear decklid... i have this ticking sound that comes from the left rear side and its driving me nuts... Have any of you used DynaMat on ther decklids and trunks? Does anyone have a step by step or an idea on how to disasemble the decklid area so i can dyna mat it...
I am also open to suggestions... oh by the way I do have a system...

I insulated the crap out of my rear deck, turns out its not the declkid that rattles its the friggin seatbelt retention mechanisims.

Ok to remove the rear shelf

1) unclip botom seat cushion
2) remove rear door sills
3) unscrew 3 bottom bolts holding the back cusion in place, they are attached to a metal beam that attaches to the seat.
4) unscrew 4 upper bolts, (once you lay flat the rear back cushion), they under the plastic covers that hold the seat belt retainers.
5) remove rear seat back cushion.
5) remove rear C pillar protective trim pieces both sides, CAREFULL SIDE AIRBAG WIRES UNDER THEM. Pull the trim inwards, toward the 3rd break light, there are 4 clips there.
6) unhook 3rd break light.
7) Slide out rear parcel shelf towards you.

I have dual 10" JBLs, plenty enough bass without going deaf. The only rattle I was getting was the license plate. Took it off put some sponge under it, fine ever since.

Alot of times the rear window brake light is rattling against the window also. Might want to check that.

 

Yes a mojority of my rattles came from the brake light and the window. Added some adhesive foam in between them and they rarely fight with each other anymore!!

I have this annoying rattle when driving on rough roads
and it sounds like it is coming from the front passenger side.
But when I have two different people sit next to me and listen for the
sound, they would both claim that it's from the back. It's one
of those directional sound depending on where you sit.

 

I would recomend dynmatting both sides of the rear deck and around the seat belt thingy. I also put it inside the 3rd brake light and added foam to that. I also did the trunk the whole thing but you may just want to do the trunk lid. have fun

Highly recommend you unplug the battery when you remove C-pilar cover. Air bag cartridges need power to ignite. Much safer. Same thing if you are working on the dash.

I got E-Dead from Ebay. Half the price but same performance as Dynamat.
While you got the seats out, I recommend you slap soundproofing on rear wheelwells, floor, trunk, etc. Worth it.

I suggest you get a copy of the shop manual. Priceless. If you can extract RAR files, get a copy of the manual here (43MB):
