Matic-D or Matic-K ATF

Does it matter which of these is used in a 2004 Max SL 4 speed. Manual says Matic-D for 4 speed and Matic-K for 5 speed. I have the 4 Speed and found a case of Matic-k at a reasonable price. Any solid information on this would be appreciated. I'm concerned about mixing the two.

I just picked up 3 quarts at the dealer. I got the poor guy all worked up. He said they were warned that selling the wrong tranny oil would mean trouble and he had to double check a sheet on the wall. My 5 speed requires K. Probably should use the Matic-D if that's the recommended oil.

I will keep it in mind if I drive your way, or if you drop by in the DC area.

I called the Dealership this morning and the Service Manager, I have dealt with for a couple of years on the 17 visits the Max has seen there while under warranty, told me the 4sp AT needed Matic-D. I told him I had some Matic-K but no receipt and he offered to exchange it for me for Matic D. I kept 6 quarts of Matic-K and will ship them to anyone that wants some for $42. Shipping is quite expensive as these are heavy and I will split that difference. $42 is your total cost shipped to the door. These are no use to me and the trade for Matic-D is already a loss as no money is returned. Matic-D is about half the price of Matic-K. Let me know.
