Trunk Hinge Problem

the bottom piece where the trunk latches onto appears to have come loose - i had to reallign the hinge correctly and then retighten the nut - is this common?

i attempted to shut it yesterday morning and i just heard a loud clank and then checked and the trunk hinge was basically upside down (nothing for the top to latch onto) - i don't use my trunk THAT much but it gets a few opens/closes each month

from what i could tell there isn't anything more to it but if there is and i missed something please mention it

Screws fall out allthe time, the worlds an imperfect place... Quote-from the breakfast club.
Was the clank before or after you fixed it?
Climb in the trunk W/ a flashlight and open and close it a few times to check that it's operating correctly and everything is lined up.
Or if it's still under warranty let those guys deal with it.

it is under warranty but i don't want to have to go down there and deal with them if it's just a simple retightening of the nut - was wondering if there was more to it i guess
