where to get replacement dash plate?

hey guys. i did an installation a couple of weeks ago that required cutting my dash to fit a double din dvd player around the area where the cd changer/cassette player were, and i'm really not happy with the outcome of it. i'm looking to buy a new front plate/dash kit/whatever it's called, and see if i can have my stepfather try to cut it in a better way. it's for an 06 sl so the metra kit does not match (reason why we cut the oem in the first place). i dont care if its from a wrecked car, or from a new one. the cheaper the better, but it must be in brand-new condition...

any ideas/places i could look for that in? what's the proper name to start searching by? thanks!

Funny enough, I have had to price one also recently. A windshield company botched mine. From the stealership, your looking at $617.00, give or take a bit because of locations.

that's crazy, you can pick that up alot cheaper maybe even at a junk yard. I still have mine hanging in my carage since I went with an aftermarket one when I installed my HU. I think I paid something like $18.00 for it

well i might not need it anymore. at least not for now. we put a trim around the dvd player that has a thin chrome line, then faux-leather in black and then another thin chrome line. it goes well with that car, hides the ugly cutting underneath and makes the dvd player look like it has a frame to it. pretty cool and only cost me $12.98 for the piece of trim at the autopart...
it's staying like that for now at least
