A/C, fan stopped...
A/C, fan stopped...
...has this happened to anybody else? It was working on the way to work and then at lunch time no air was coming out. The display and lights work but no air. Just want to try and avoid the stealership if possible...any ideas???
Oh and for the record, here's what I saw when I got in my car today

did you make sure the air was in circulate mode and not gathering air from the outside in....
i hope that made sence.... there is a button that looks like an arrow inside the car, and an arrow that enters the front of the car.
i cant spoke today....

I'm not much help with electronics, but if the controls and displays all look OK, then the problem may be the fan.
Since you had the thermostat set on 60 degrees (per the display) and the outside temp was very hot, the fan would have immediately tried to go to full speed, hence would draw maximum current. It may be that a fuse or fusible link or circuit breaker blew/flipped.
Or the fan motor itself may have a problem.
It probably isn't the fan motor bearings, as that kind of problem usually 'announces' itself well in advance with ugly sounds.
But I'll leave this to the folks who know about these things.

If you checked the fuses (2) and the fan does not work with or without A/C then: There is a resistor under the fan motor that's used to vary the speed of the motor, called a "fan control amplifier". Check that power is at least getting to the amplifier. Bypass the amplifier to see if the motor does work.
Otherwise, service manual, ATC section page 68.
