Grinding noise

I started hearing a grinding noise or something like it when I accelerate at low speeds. What is the problem and how can I fix it? Im still under warranty.

I think there has been a thread about this but not sure. I tried accessing the search function but im not allowed to search.

thanks

Hmmmm where is it coming from? Be a bit more specific.

If its at low speeds it might be the wheel bearing

Man, this issue is popping up everywhere! I take my car in to the dealership for a second time to diagnose the problem. I've already had the rotors and pads replaced. I'm starting to think it's the axle.

It's the bracket and/or the heatshield. Check the stickies for the TSB and bring it to the dealer. I got both done + the loose CAT (SES light) due to the grinding noise. It will get worse over time, from intermittent to every time I accelerated between 2500-3200RPM. You can swear a heatshield can't make that sort of noise, but that was it.

Yeah, but I actually hear and feel it. Also, are you talking about the heatshield for the stock headers? In that case I don't have any heat shields as they were removed when I installed the Hotshot headers.

It's a clunking/vibration that can be felt through the floor mainly. It appears to be coming from the right passenger side wheel area to about the dash area.

At about 40+ mph if I let off the gas then give it a little gas I can recreate the sound at will.

It might be the motor mounts. The autos use computer controlled mounts and make an audible noise when engaging, ie...hitting the gas. If they are going bad it might get a little loud.

It sounds like something that's rotational, if that's a word. What's scary is at 40+ mph, I tap on the gas and the sound is directly proportional to the engine speed(rpms) NOT the rotation of the axles.

I would think, if it was the axles, at 40+ mph the sound would be constant but it goes away when I let off the gas. As I tap the gas and the RPMs go up the clunking comes in at around the same RPM every time.

I pray it's not a moving part within the engine like the timing chain hitting the cover.

could be soo many things.. wheel bearing, axels, belt tensioner .. etc isolate the sound. then you will know where it would be.

The grinding noise turned out to be the front right wheel bearing. They replaced it for free and the car is back to normal.
