On a second note, anyone know the device I can use to get a remote car starter that uses my own keyfob. I heard of something on here before but I cant remember what it was called.

Thanks.

I got a remote start with the stock keyfob, all they have to do is program it. Its called pulse something. and what happens is u press your lock button 3 times and it turns on, thats how mine works. I dont think you need a specail unit at all

No, you need a remote start unit. But thats how it works so you can keep your stock keyfob instead of using the ones that come with it.

Most units can be installed to work with the factory key fob. Most dei remote start units can be programmed that way. There are a few other brands out there that'll do the same thing as well.

The only disadvantage with these systems is that they hook up to the lock motor wire. So, you can turn on your remote start from the lock switch inside the car. If you leave a kid in the car and they are switch happy, they can start the car via the door lock switch.

Why would you leave a kid all alone in the car?

But in response to where I got it done, theres a place called auto design in Hicksville, Long Island. I recommend them. They did i good job If you want to get it tdone from them, just be warned. They are a bit pricey but the auality is also there.

Any idea if they will install that same remote start system with the original key FOB in a 6-speed?

[QUOTE]

I wouldn't!!! But you would be surprised at how many people/dealers come back to me and say, "My kid started my car from the lock switch!"

Imagine you are sitting in your car with your kid watching a movie, with the car on acc. Your kid starts playing with the lock switch and kicks on your remote start. The car starts and there's no harm done but, it'd probably freak some people out.

Anyway, I was just pointing out some of the querks with getting it installed that way...I'm not saying it's bad to get it done on the factory key fob.

Xoomer figure like $249 installed and then $50 extra for the anti-grind feature, so 300 plus tax...

and MPScan are you willing to drive to NY for this? Ill call them up and find out for you.
