I installed the Ipod OEM Gateway with the two harnesses yesterday, Only weird thing i get is when i use the bottom steering wheel control, it flips to the Radio. I am assuming this is not normal, so i wondered if anyone has come acrossed this before who can tell me where i went wrong.
I appreciate you help!

It is normal.. but you have to hold the steering wheel control seek button. When you hold it down it will beep and change your songs on the ipod gateway. If you single click it goes back to radio and changes your radio stations.

Hey guys, i have an IPOD gateway 999U7-ST002, but it doesn't charge my ipod. I've looked around and don't seem to be able to find an option to update. Can you guys give me a clue which ipod gateway would give me the option to charge and other goodies.
Thanks
Jeff

I have the 04 Max SE with Bose and Nav and started to install the Ipod interface but can't figure out how to get the head unit out. Do I have to pull the LCD and everything to get it out? Anyone have the directions to remove it? Also, it looks like the link for the instructions for the Ipod installation is not longer valid (http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=484034&page=2). I found one site that had it but it was for an 07...totally different than the 04.

I tried holding like you said, but all mine does is go through the iPod functions, which is equivalent to the TUNE button on the radio, not the TRACK button.
This is for an 07 with bose and navigation. All other features work perfectly. TUNE button on radio goes through options. TRACK button on radio selects options. TRACK button on radio moves through iPod tracks.
My only complaint is what jdfwx was talking about. When you hit the button on the steering wheel that would normally change tracks on a CD, it takes you out of SAT, which for 07 bose/navi is the mode you need to be in for ipod, and back to AM/FM.
I tried what you said about holding the track button on the steering wheel and like I said before, it just goes through the iPod options, one step per hold.
Anyone?

could be different cuz they might of put a new gateway or something, cuz thats how mine works, I actually can't get the menu options going on my steering wheel. So thats all new to me. Might want to see if your instruction manual says otherwise.
Has anyone figured out how to get the gateway to have music list go on random as a default?

06 maxima
I did this in my 2006 maxima with bose/6disc cd changer/navigation. I added the ipod gateway from nissan and while I think the sound is better I am not pleased with the interface through the stereo/steering wheel control.
1) I can not get the STeering wheel control to change songs. As a previous post mentioned you can hold the button on the steering wheel but it just scrolls through the menu. artist~album~playlist~etc... This was useless for me.
2) Trying to scroll to say artist Justin Timberlake takes a while to get to. You have to select artist. Then it will start playing the first song. If you have 3 or 4 albums you can not get to the album you have to scroll through each song.
3) If you let it sit you have to start at the beginning each time....
If I had none how un-user friendly it was I would have just stuck with my tape adapter. If I could still access the ipod while it was connected it might be a little better...

Blast from the past thread.
I have found that when using the iPod in your car the key is to have playlists and just play those, or just go shuffle. The changing of songs is not very friendly but I'd rather the direct connection than the tape player.
Not sure why holding the button doesn't change tracks on the iPod, mine works perfectly and has since the life of this thread....
Since the thread is open, anyone remember how to get the iPod to show song name and not the XM channel number. Mine won't change back to track name even after I go through the display.

177 for the ipod box and some 31 for the harness, you're looking for a bit over 200.
go directly to your dealer so that if you get some wrong parts you don't have to deal with @ss holes online.

^^^ there is no need for manuals, pictures, write ups etc.
Pull off the shifter ****, pull up the plastic cover, disconnect 2 plugs and put aside.
remove 2 screws you have just uncovered, pull off one plug put aside
remove 2 screws and pull up the top piece gently
remove 2 more screws and now you can pull the whole frame where the head unit and displays sit.
remove the main plug (big white one) and the second gray from the side (underneath the white you just removed)
plug the harnes, no way to screw it up because all 20 plugs there are different.
mount the ipod adapter on top of your head unit using double sided tape
route the cables down to little storage in front of your tranny shifter. (you'll have to drill a hole in the top of the compartment to route the cable.
there is a ground wire just remove any screw that bolts to the chasis and put the wire under.
assemble in reverse.
There is no point in removing half the dash to put it in the glove compartment, just route it to that small compartment.
This can be done in 15 minutes if you're doing it for the second time. veeeeery easssy!
BTW. This unit is universal to many nissan vehicles so you don't have to follow directions in the box (yes they are useless) and don't have to use all cable ties, tapes, etc. I believe the kit uses all the pieces with a pathfinder.
If I did it, anyone can do it.
P.S. Look for instruction on how to disassemble the center column instead if you have problems reading my directions, but man I was shocked how easy this was.

Buy the parts and post a video for all those who fear this extremely easy mod. This thing is plug and play. Easier than chaning light bulbs in the front.
The only thing you need to know is how to remove center console.

So I am looking to get the Ipod adaptor for my 07 w/ Bose and Nav. Got some ?s though.
Which adaptor is best?
Peripheral, PAC (same company as Peripheral now), or OEM?
Do they all display text?
Do none select tracks with steering controls?

You sound like you were to lazy to read the thread. Start at post one and then ask questions that weren't asnwered yet.

uh... yea. I read the thread. Looks like u were lazy.
I didn't see any mention of the Peripheral or PAC interfaces. Most of this thread is old. (these parts weren't even available)
I'm lookin for anyone with experience with these and benefits if any over OEM for the 6.5 gen with Nav.
