Yeah Im fat.... so what.....

ok ok ok.... Post Edit:

Apparently our cars have 2 different weights. Gross and Curb.

Gross vehicle weight is the total weight of passengers and car.
Curb weight, is weight of the car without passengers

The Curb weight for SE and SL are different depending on installed options. Both weigh around 3400 lbs. of FAT fun!!!!

Compared to other top selling power cars -

07 Dodge Charger: 3710 lb.
07 Chrysler 300: 3750–4300 lb.
07 Acura TL: 3623 lb.
07 Honda Accord: 3150–3650 lb.

---------------------

Now we may be bigger compared to past generation maximas. But what do you expect. More powerful engines, larger passenger room, more gadgets... But yet still, we are lighter then some of our competitor car makers... So the question is, are we fat or just big boned..... I THINK WE ARE JUST BIG BONED....

You're mistaken.

Unless, of course, I mis-read the info on the sticker in the driver's door jamb.

You probably didn't misread, you just observed the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating, meaning the weight of the vehicle with all passengers, cargo and fluids.

I love the title thread. It caught my attention right away!

I agree with LA02Max. It is very easy to confuse gross weight vs. actual weight.

Definately more to love! (Accelerator included).

I kinda equate weight (for a sedan) to be an indicator of quality..I dont want a paper mache car..and still, in spite of that weight, it still goes like hell! You are right, the curb weight of an E500 is 3,815 lbs...i NEVER woulda thought our car weight more than an E500. Does this mean slimming the maximas pounds will make it that much quicker? Its too nice to violate, just a thought.

I don't believe 4500lbs either. I read on average its 3500lbs, depending on accessories.

According to Nissan (http://www.nissanusa.com/maxima/specifications.html)

Curb Weight for the '07 Maxima is 3,591 for the SE and 3,579 for the SL.

nope....its the gross weight that you read...the one on my g35 coupe says the car is like 4300 lbs...imagine that being true lol.

and as far as our cars being heavier then an e500...nope again lol.

4500 is definitely the GVWR.

Actually, I have always felt that the 6G Max is a bit on the light side for its size.

One place I'd love to see some weight added is in the doors. Although the doors feel reasonably solid when you close them, a pound or two of sound deadening is definitely needed around the outside door handles. They sound and feel like you're opening a tin can when you pull on them to open the door. Its almost embarrasing when they sound like that when you go to show your new car to someone. Fortunately, that and the chintzy Federally mandated TPMS valve stems are the only build quality issues with my '07.

Ok . . once and for all . . Gross vehicle weight is the total weight of passengers, and car . .thus the "gross" part. Thats what on the sticker of the door jam.

Curb weight, is weight of the car without passengers. U can find that in the stats in car mags. Our car is about 3400-3600 lbs curb weight depending on options and weight reduction mods, like exhaust and other mods. Got it??

I have a copy of the 2004 Maxima Product Selling Guide.
Here are the curb weights listed for 04:
SE Manual Trannie = 3436 lbs.
SE Auto Trannie = 3473 lbs.
SL Auto Trannie = 3470 lbs.

So the 07 is heavier than the 04 by over 100 lbs.

I think 06s have bluetooth too, but I was curious, what kind of accessories would cause the car to have about a 200lb range in difference?

The weight difference between 06 & 07 is 106 lbs (3,485 vs 3,591), 12 of which is on the rear wheels (1,362 vs. 1,374).

The CVT might weigh more (I tried to find some definitive info but came up empty so far), but its not a 200lb difference.

If I'm not mistaken a CVT requires way more cooling than a traditional tranny. I think it's the combination of the CVT and the cooling equipment for the CVT. Those babies run HOT. My money is on the bluetooth for sure though. LOL

I'd rather not have to hand out instruction sheets to the passengers.

So long as we're talking about wish lists, how about adding 5-star side impact crash protection, as vs. the currently "marginal" rating the 6th generations have earned to date? I, for one, will not buy another Max unless it meets this standard...

Hey bro, I thought that the doors were on the side of the car...But sorry I detracted from the importance of the door handle's sound.

I hear what you are saying about the doors. they sound solid with the windows up but with them down not so solid.
