There is NO acception to the tint rule in cali...

In one hand i think it blows, but then you think about it and it makes SO MUCH sense. its all for the safety of the poice which i understand 100%... so what I DO is just pay the $10 fix it tix cost and re tint the windwos.... thankfullllly i have a place that does my two fronts for 25$ TOTAL!!!

Just my 2 cents

Personally I'd do 30% tint in the front, 20% in the back and 20% tint to block the sun.

Yes, any percentage of tint in Cali is illegal. Paying the fix it ticket and getting it re-tinted doesn't bother me, especially since alot of shops offer "tint insurance". The thing that bothers me is getting pulled over all the time. It seems so stupid to give tickets just for tint but I guess it makes sense from the cops' point of view.

I live in SC. There is a tint 'law' but nothing worth enforcing to law enforcement. I asked our local police depts. BEFORE tinting, about our tint laws and what they would let slide. They told me that if they suspect you of something, they'll pull your tag up before pulling you over. If you have a history then they'll make a big deal, but if you are being legal, they won't mess with you.

I love SC........

I too spoke to some cops in NY and they told me that unless the cop is an a-hole he will not bother you for the tints unless they are over the top. I have my 50s on the side and 35 rear and love the look and the fact that I constantly pass by the officers (precinct nearby) and they never give me trouble. My brother put 35 all around and so far (knock on wood) no problems.
