Done. This is my real self. Welcome to MY thread. My apologies to anyone I offended. I am building MY Maxima and I'm a little sensitive. Sorry. I really appreciate all and any constructive criticism. Please give me all of the advice you can muster.

By the way, as an update. I got my KYB's and Progress springs on this past week. Next week, I'm sending my ECU to Technosquare for reprogramming. I got my CE Y-pipe in the mail today - plan to put it on this weekend. I have a Racingline strut bar on order from Taz that will arrive sometime this month.

What should be next? Thinking about upgraded front struts and pads, but please tell me. I'm all ears from this point forward...

Rotors and pads (already have new struts) - Sorry. I'm thinking about upgrading my front brakes. Any thoughts? There's not a big selection of "Big Brake Kits" for the 6th generation (AP Racing and Stillen for the front, but no Brembo or Stop Tech). I'm thinking of at least replacing the front rotors and pads with a combination of perhaps Hawk, Greenstuff, etc. and EBC slotted rotors. Anyone installed anything that they are happy with?

good stuff!

From what I've seen, Wilwood is by far the best bang for buck!

What about the Z32 brake upgrade?

Nice links. I hadn't heard of Wildwood before. Thank you! Only thing is that $1500 is a bit steep for me. What's the deal with the Z32 brake upgrade? I've seen it before on the forum, but I'm not sure what it is? Can you explain further? Also, anyone found some nice drilled and/or slotted rotors that might
do the trick? I'm thinking of just upgrading the front rotors and adding some hi-performance pads to the front and rear.

the Wilwood is what came to mind first, but yes the 300zx front brake upgrade would be even a bigger bang for buck! About 1/3 of the price of Wilwood, 4 POT and it's still a "Nissan product!"

BUT-Wilwood 6POT, bigger discs, light-weight 2 piece rotors > 300ZX 4POT, bigger, but not as big as Wilwood, and i'm pretty sure it's a normal "heavy" rotor

Don't go cheap when it comes to brakes, if you're going to "upgrade" them without going BBK, then at least get BOTH front and rear rotors/pads. I would recommend RTP zinc plated rotors (prevent rust on the hub; I have them and they still look amazing!) or Brembos. Brake pads=Hawk HPS pads-case closed!

If you are going for "more ventilation," then go with ONLY slotted, NOT drilled. Drilled just takes away quite a bit of surface area for the pads to grab onto and during daily driving, very seldom heat up so much that you need the "ventilation." On the other hand, slotted would be alright because it retains most surface area while still "venting" a little bit. Best thing to do is to get BLANKS with some good pads and SS brake lines.

Got it. I'm going to see a buddy of mine that works for Nissan tomorrow. He declared my ECU DOA to Nissan Warranty. They've shipped me a brand new ECU that I'm promptly shipping out to Technosquare on Monday. When they ship it back I'm going to swap it out for my ECU. My friend is going to work his dealership magic to make the codes match for my keys and then I should have a BIG BIG smile on my face as my throttle opens 100% for the first time in my car's life. I'll ask him about the 300ZX brakes while I'm there. Thanks!

Think again. Because you donated $20 does not make you any more important than any other member on this site or give you the leeway to make crude comments that should be reserved for the Off Topic section. Anyone who has read this thread, can clearly see that is exactly where you've taken this with your failed attempts at flaming others and not accepting their feedback when it doesn't fit into your grand-NISMO-themed mindset.

If you actually realized that you having donated the $20 gives you the availability to actually "SEARCH" this site and answer some of the questions you've asked over and over and over again in this thread without being spoon-fed the information by other members that have actually done the research themselves.

The next time ANYONE else (including MYSELF) is threatened to be sued for for infringing on their "right to freedom of speech" for closing "YOUR" thread simply because of the severe tangent it has taken, you won't have to worry about getting feedback from others. As moderators, we are here to move, lock, delete any post or thread that we deem worthy that is no longer contributing positively to this site and that's exactly where you decided to take this thread with your inappropriate comments earlier.

Since you're a moderator you should have access to my complete contact information. I'll be more than happy to educate you completely "off topic" (e.g. call me in person) regarding Maxima.org's responsibilities re: free speech and it's "non-profit" status. Consider it "free-of-charge" legal counsel to an organization that promotes my favorite brand and make of vehicles.

Now, regarding my brake selection? The conversation has been going so well tonight without one bit of flaming (by me or anyone else). Are there any cheaper solutions than a $1500 for a specialty brake kit? Please let me know...

It was a joke as my ECU won't do HALF the things that it will after Technosquare get's done with it.

My wife's family is in Chicago, but regardless. All of these ECU transactions (new ones, reprogrammed ones, replaced ones) are 1 day of FedEx away. Get it? Isn't it the point on this forum to make FRIENDS and get favors done? Shoot me an offline message and I'll hook you up. No problem, FRIEND!

I don't need to discuss anything with you, I know what the forum rules are. I paid attention to them when I registered over 3 years ago. Maybe you should refresh your memory.

"Muster" is a Naval term. Chermax can probably also vouch for that as well since he is ex-Navy. Any "on-topic" comments? Please be aware the that "moderator" is watching this thread closely now. My advice is to keep it cordial and to stay away if you cannot offer helpful insight. Here are the forum rules to refresh your memory:

Did I say I didn't understand the sentence?

For your brakes, the Z32s are the best for the price IMO. You can get the calipers for VERY cheap and buy the rebuild kit from nissan.

Well it's really not that big of an improvement over stock (if any). IMO slotted and/or cross-drilled rotors are actually worse because they wear pads down faster and tend to crack much easier than blanks. Also you don't have as much of a pad surface as you do with blanks.

In order to improve brakes (in both feel and bite) one must get something better than a single piston caliper and use something like Hawk HPS pads. The 6th gen brakes on my car didn't do anything really but I think the increased pad surface area helped dissipate heat a little better which helped with fade. Other than that my car feels the same as it did before and it probably stops in the same distance it did before the swap.

EDIT: brakes look nice BTW :

I haven't hit the skid pad with this setup but I can honestly say it was a huge improvement over the stock brakes without a doubt. Especially noticed a better "feel" with the steel brake lines...

SS lines can make a difference in initial bite (shear mechanics...just think how the rubber lines initially expand) but like I said before it doesn't really make any difference in actual braking. Just make sure to check those lines every oil change to make sure they're OK. You don't want one bursting on you.

Here's good page that shows all of them (sizes, colors, etc.) However, I too would like to see these on someone's car. I'm thinking about going for these at some point, but it's way too many bucks (with the tires especially) to risk them not looking absolutely spectacular or worse, like sh*T.

http://www.nissandfwparts.com/Produc..._list_876.html

Got the CE Y-Pipe on today. Didn't affect the sound too much (not like the CAI). So far, I like it very much. Can't wait to get a Catback and have the exhaust completely done. My ECU goes out to Technosquare tomorrow. It's what's going to make the CAI and Y-pipe worth while. Until then, I think my ECU is merely "undoing" everything by adjusting the ratios. Hopefully, I'll have it back by the end of the week and put it in next Saturday. Perhaps I'll get my Racingline strut bar in the mail this week? Taz?

Nismo Badges Arrived

I was able to get some really nice Nismo badges for the front and rear of my Maxima. They came from the UK and are of killer quality. The chrome is raised very nicely and they're about the size of the 3.5 SL badge one will be replacing on the rear. I'll put the front one of my new AT grill when I get it. I have two other different badges for the doors. They are flatter and say "Nissan Motorsports International" below "Nismo." I'm going to wait to put all of these badges on until I at least get the grill and the 07 rear spoiler on, so my car looks a little more Nismo-like and not like an SL with Nismo stuck on it. Anyone know of some nice side sills?

My ECU arrives at Technosquare today (I'm watching it on the FedEx tracker like a little kid). When I get it in, hopefully next Saturday, I'm hoping that it will bring my Nismo CAI and CE Y-pipe to life! My new KYB struts and Progress springs have been on for about I week and I'm very happy with the way the car handles. Motor mounts and Nismo sway bars should complete the handling. Someday, if I ever get my Nismo R-Tune camshafts then I'll add an R-Tune sticker below the Nismo in the rear.

I'm officially out of budget for this project for a while. Guess I'd better go sell something!

Sweet!!! I was going to go with these 17" Nismos to keep both the weight and price of tires down, but these look like they may be worth the $1K cost in tires. Very nice. They look like the gunmetal ones. My Maxima is black also, so I think that I would go with the brighter ones.

Would the 19" Nismo rims fit with my car lowered with Progress springs?
