Depnds on the tire size and offset you get. 245-40-19 or 255-40-19's should work fine.

Tire size explained.

Note: Always compare your stock wheels against whatever wheels you plan on getting, so you have a reference point. Stock wheels are 18 x 7.5" IIRC, they're +45mm offset(May want to double check the offset)

Did I mention these wheels are SWA-EEEET!!! Ray's engineering wheels for our Maximas!

I've seen them on eBay as cheap as $1440 (they're $500 each list). The BF Goodrich G-Force tires that fit them are $250 each! Oh, I wish I had 3 grand. I would by them tomorrow!!!

Hey, my wife is expecting. I thought that MAYBE my next car would be the new G35 Coupe or even the GT-R (in my dreams), but perhpas I ought to take notes on that Nismo Quest!!! Do you think that my Nismo CAI or Y-pipe will fit on a Quest if I sell my Maxima? Does Nimso make a baby seat?

My maxima is an SL (used to be an SL, anyway). Are the offsets different for the SE (18" rims) and the SL (17" rims)? I'm in love with those 19" Nismo rims, but may go for the 17's instead to keep costs and weight down (I go through a lot of tires). Seriously, here are my choices:

Option 1
19" Nismo Rims ($1440 - $2000)
BFG g-Force T/A KDW2's ($1000)

$3000 Total

OR

Option 2
17" Nismo Rims ($800)
BFG g-Force Sports ($412)

$1212 Total

What do you think?

I'd not go less than 18". Those Nismo rims are light enough.

What do you think?
Option 2 FTMFW! Number one those wheels actually LOOK light weight and sporty. Number two, smaller diameter=mass closer to the axis of rotation=less force needed to rotate wheel=FTW.

Congrats to you and your wife. My wife and I are expecting to fill up the second seat as well here in a few months, that's right, bob. As for the wheel offsets, no they are not the same. According to the specs the SL is 17X7 with a 35mm offset running 225/55-17 H rated and the SE is 18X7.5 with a 40mm 245/45-18 V rated.

If I understand you, and I'm not 100% sure that I do, you are pointing out that most of my mods are not Nismo mods. Well, you would be correct. Unfortnuately, Nismo (Nissan) doesn't have a lot of Nismo parts for the Maxima yet. They have just about everything for the 350Z and a lot for the Altima even, but only the CAI is technically a Nismo part created for the Maxima. So, what am I to do? Well, I've determined that many of those parts for the 350Z and Altima will work on the 6th generation Maxima (e.g. sway bars, cam shafts, even floor mats). Why they don't market these for the Maxima is beyond me as it seems a bit of testing would allow them to do so. That said, I'm coming up with replacements where there are no Nismo parts, but that deliver the same (or more) performance, such as the Cattman catback. What I ultimately want is a Maxima that is "styled" after the Nismo 350Z that ends up having as many of the "Nismo R-Tune" specs as possible. Make sense?

Thanks, man. The best to you and yours as well! Maybe Sparco makes a cool baby seat?

Back to the rims? I'm in 100% agreement that I think that I would rather have the 19"er's with the $1000 tires, but look at the price difference?!? Is it worth almost 3x as much $$$ to have that setup vs. a perfectly nice 17" setup. I have stock 17" wheels now with those same g-Force sport tires and have NO problems with the performance, handling, etc. I just feel that I need to put some Nismo rims on to complete the package. Anymore thoughts?

brian, you will most likely see an increase in gas mileage with the smaller wheels as well...IMO they look better, they are much more light weight, and like I said before smaller diameter=good.

Thanks, LA02MAX. You know, that's kind of where I'm at. There's no doubt in my mind that the 19"r's will look better and are definitely more in-style (low profile tires included), but I definetly think the 17"r's will provide better all around performance. I guess I just have to decide which I'm more after: killer looks or performance. Honestly, I want good looks, but not at the sacrifice of not being able to beat some M3. Oh well, we'll see. Unless I come up with $3K it may all be a mute point.

I'd go with option 1 because I've seen them on a 6th gen and they look sexy.

The 2nd option only comes in a size 18''....................unless you found something different that might be a rip-off

Completly, But can you list the nismo parts that are compatible with the max (including the ones that will work but are marketed for other models) becuase I am looking to go this route but I want either everything nismo or stock. Thanks for your help

Alright (whatever), here's what I've found so far re Nismo parts for the 6th gen:

1. Nismo Cold Air Intake (for the Maxima): $300.00
2. Nismo Sway Bars: $360.00
3. Nismo R-Tune Cam Shafts: $1,600.00
4. Nismo Floor Mats: $60.00
5. Nismo Oil Cap: $75.00
6. Nismo Radiator Cap: $35.00
7. Nismo wheels: $410 to $550 depend on size, style, color, etc.
8. Nismo License Plate cover: whatever

Want to know a place online that discounts these parts 25 - 40 % that ships same day? Just let me know ;-)

Okay, stop with the private messages!!! I'll f'ing tell already. Geeze, I thought you peope hated Nismo. Whatever. Right here in my own State of Georgia, the cheapest Nismo parts I have found anywhere on the web is at a Nissan Dealership in Savannah, GA: http://www.vadennissanparts.com/ Ask for Chris and tell him Brian Copeland from Atlanta, Georgia sent you and perhaps he'll give you the deal of a lifetime (and give me the deal of a lifetime on those 19" wheels ;-)

17s = more comfort (more sidewall), gas mileage, performance, less cost
19s = looks

I know you understand my point, but if looks are MORE important than go for the 19s....

If you are going with those 19's I'm assuming you're getting four of the 19X8.5 fronts. And what's the deal with some of the Nismo rims not compatible with VDC?

I think all 4 rims and tires have to be the same size, or VDC will sense they aren't spinning at the same rate and compensate.

Personally, I'm not one to part easily with my money on mods to a car I use to commute with, so your $$, your call. Are you doing a bbk and if so are you sure it will fit inside those 17's?

I wasn't saying using two different diameter wheels. So with the 19X8.5's and the 19X9.5's (the setup for rwd Z's) isn't the recommended tire size the same for both: 245/40-19? So then they have the same OD, and they would be spinning at the same rate, or am I missing something?

On my other car, it says to deactivate the dynamic control when put the skinny spare on or car won't move. If you run the same size tires, they should have the same diameter. It COULD be if you run true staggered setup, that will give you a problem. Would 245/40 fit on a 9.5" wide rim?

245 is a touch on the slim side for a 9.5"

Back to Wheels

Okay, here's how I'm currently leaning (based on your input, my own desires, and my realistic budget for the next couple of months):

Wheels: $800
Tires: $600

$1400 Total

Half the price of the 19" Nismo/BFG solution!

Cheap/better performance/comfort. What do you think? Me likey!!!
