I've been driving the Max a lot this week and realize that THE BEAST is as beasty as ever and need to get the brake upgrade BEFORE I buy anymore Nismo crap ;-)
Both Matt93SE (BlehmCo) and Jeff92SE sell brackets/kits that use the z32 (300zx) calipers. The one thing to keep in mind is that this setup probably will not fit underneath your stock wheels.......

Matt sells the ss lines that fit either setup. Don't waste your money on slotted rotors unless you just want them for looks (because that's all they are for).

plus, they look so pretty

of course, if you have a bit more money to spend there are always "name brand" BBKs from companies like AP Racing, racingbrake, stillen, etc.....

Blemco was who I was thinking of. Yes, I want the slotted rotors just for looks and yes, the ydo look so very nice! I've seen the AP Racing and Stillen and the other brand in the thread, Name???, but they're too much money and I've heard the replacement pads are a ripoff. Plus, I think that it would be cool to have some nice powder coated "Nissan" calipers peeking out from my wheels. And yes, I need to make sure they'll fit my stock SL rims, which they probably won't which means I need to spend between $1200 and $2400 on new tires and Nismo rims (depending on the size I decide I want.)

So, I'm definitely staying here in Huntsville to make some more money. I already pay the equivalent of one major mod a month in child support to my FIRST wife ;-)

as you can see, they do fit under the G35 coupe wheels (both the 17s and 18s), which can be found with tires for pretty cheap (~500$ used).....

That's worth thinking about as I have seen some pretty SWEET G35 coupe wheels! Also, I guess THEY have to acommedate those optional Brembo brakes. Good night ;-)

judging how you are planning to make a "fast/quick" maxima, the G35 wheels are not for you imo. they are HEAVY...they can be your "show wheels," but get the NISMOS or some other light-weight wheels for speed! (sorry irish )

Honestly, I expected a bunch of flaming responses re: my strong stand on the KDW2's. Before they DO arrive (and I'm sure they will) let me just say that while I think they ARE SWEET looking tires (perhaps the SWEETest looking tires), I've actually done a fair amount or research on them and have determined that some of the other BF-Goodrich tires offer WAY more bang for the buck, especially on the smaller sizes. Of course, I PROMISE that I will EAT these words when I end up buying some (perhaps).

Just curious, where did you get that info from?
The reviews Ive read all state that the KDW2 was one of best performing street tire for BFG next to the BFG KD, wich isnt really good in wet conditions.
Those BFG DRs your talking about are going to grip better of course since there drag radials, but those arent meant for daily driving. Tread life will be out the window with those and wet conditons are going to be extremly bad.
Which tire did you research and discover that they outperformed the KDW2's?
The only bad thing Ive read about the KDW2's is the road noise due to the tread design.
In all honesty, its not that bad, at least not to me. When I was on Yokohama Paradas, now those were loud.

About your brake upgrade, the Z32 calipers are the best way to go cost wise. There a 4 piston caliper, same as the Brembos and can be obtained easily. They make a big difference in stopping power, more so if you have the larger rotors. Im using the Z32 rotors and they still do a much better job of stopping over my OEM Maxima setup.

I don't know about AP or Brembos but pads for Wilwoods are actually cheap. The kit ships with street pads and there are about 12-16 different pads available that one can pick from depending on their driving....er braking needs.

Yes the hawk pads fit too and changing the pads requires removal of one bolt.

With 19" wheels, the mass will be further from the axis of rotation which has the same effect as adding more unsprung weight inhibiting performance...lightweight 17s are the way to go.

Nice car, so the official 2007 Nismo 350Z has less Nismo decals then the "Nismo Maxima"?

It's all relative. Perhaps those suck worse?

Yes, I believe that you are correct. It's what I've determined that I want. Now, I just need to figure out which rotors I need (size? slotted from eBay), find a deal on the calipers (?), get all of the parts ordered, find wheels and tires that will accommedate them, and install them. Never expected the installation to be the EASY part!

Thanks for the post!

I hadn't. That is SWEET! Perhaps I'll just say "screw you guys" and go buy one. Oh wait, a baby seat doesn't fit back there, does it? Oh well, I guess I'll keep the Max until I'm rich enough (or inherit another parking space in my high-rise) for a Nismo 350Z.

I have four F-ing Nismo decals on my car! Tell me my grill doesn't look good. Tell me the ones on the door don't look good. On second thought, don't tell me as my feelings hurt easily - - NOT (saw Borat the other night).

All the reviews Ive read on that site stated they were good and they liked them.

1995 Honda Civic EX Coupe
The best tires I have ever bought.
1996 Subaru Impreza WRX STI RA
There are no finer tires. This is my 5th or so pair. I first used these on my USDM 2004 STI. When I moved back to Japan I had these shipped to me for my Toyota Alteza and once I sold that I got a pair for my V3 STI RA. These tires are amazing. No tire has better grip on a wet surface. In Japan the concrete has a lot of coral used for filler which makes the roads like ice when they are wet. The KDW2s tackle Japanese roads like a champ. I track my car routinely and these tires hold up no problem. I dont understand how a tire with 300 tread wear have such wonderful traction. If these tires were a woman I would marry them.

2001 Audi A4 1.8T FWD Sport Package
Just got a set of these bad boys and they are two days old. Took it right off the lifts from 0 - 85 on the freeway as soon as they handed me the keys and it felt great..! The tire feels kind of soft which is a totally different ride from my old Michelin Sport which came as OEM in the car. I was a little apprehensive after reading the reviews regarding the noise level but so far it is smooth and quiet. It also cushioned the ride a little bit which was very different from the Michelins so far so good well see how this baby spins when I go up the I5 on the straight away heading north by the Grapevine as I push the speed rating on this puppy. Some folks think that the thread is weird but I think it gives it an aggresive look!

1995 Nissan 240SX
I love how these tires are sticking into the pavement when i cornering with my 240sx.I would defenetly buy an another set of them.
1998 Chevrolet Corvette
I ALMOST DIDNT GET THIS TIRE AFTER READING ALL THE REVIEWS ABOUT HOW LOUD THESE ARE. I HAD GOODYEAR EMT RUNFLATS BEFORE, OMG WHAT A DIFFERENCE THESE ARE MUCH MUCH QUIETER THAN THE FACTORY TIRES AND LOOK AWESOME ON THE CAR, IT WAS BETWEEN THIS TIRE AND THE FIRESTONE WIDEOVALS, I HAVE THE WIDEOVALS ON MY SS CAMARO AND LOVE THEM ALSO BUT WANTED THE UPGRADE OF THE BF GOODRICH, I LOVE THEM.

Are you REALLY going to make me go find five bad reviews to post? I'm glad you like YOUR tires. I like my BFG G-F Sports very much too. When I go to get new tires for my new rims I'll make my FINAL decision then. However, I doubt they'll be some $250 tire. My Sports cost that for the set!

I guess if I spend $1000 for a set of tires I'll get very upset too if someone suggests that they're not the ABSOLUTE best. Sorry.

250.00 a tire?? Where did you get that from?
Thats the average cost for 20's
Im on 18's and for my size there around 160.00 a tire, but I got mine for cheaper then that at an NTB my buddy used to manage.
I never stated the BFG's were the best. I stated they were a really good tire for handling and wear.

Actually, I have Trojan rubbers on mine and they are the best...
Bottom line there are plenty of tires that are good and some that are great. You will always find someone that hates a tire, no matter how many good reviews. I bought Toyos based on many great reviews, even though there were some that hated them. I like them. Get what you can afford and try to get a tire you like.

At that size, any decent performing tire is going to be at that price range, if not much more. Go to tire rack and do a search by that tire size and performance and see the results.
If your not wanting to spend that type of money, better look at some smaller wheels and tires.

Working on a couple of things and COULD use some help:

19" Nismo Rims: Part# 4030S-RNA4010, I've gotten a quote from my favorite Nismo dealer, www.vadennissanparts.com for $423 each, plus shipping. Don't see ANYTHING better on eBAY or anyplace else. Any thoughts???

APEXi NEO: On order. How the F-CK do I install it??? Use it??? Not finding too much here in the Forum.

Once I get the oversized rims on I'll do the brake upgrade (all good there in terms of info). Just NEED to find a decent set of calipers and then order the brackets and lines from Blehmco.

Still have the Racingline MMI's to install as well as the tail light on my spoiler this weekend. Car ran very nice in the mountains over the weekend!

I got my 300zx calipers on ebay for $80 and bought rebuild kit for I forgot how much. I painted the calipers for about $20 using Dupli-color caliper kit. Check out my thread on that.

For help on spoiler light install, check out my thread as well. I just did it a couple months ago. Dont forget the cover for removal of 3rd brake light on rear deck. Its about $20 from the dealer.

It's the same as all the other AFC's with a few more bells and whistles. Install is the same, and for tuning, you'll need some software to read your stock widebands, or you can get an aftermarket wideband installed before your main cat. But since you do not have headers yet, you still will have a couple of precats in the way perhaps altering your readings.

Get the A34 wiring diagram (via FSM), and relate it to the NEO diagram, and solder away.

A little reading never hurt anyone.
