Best way to launch 5at!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Going to the track again tonight ... have not gone for a few months but i wanted to see what people thought the best way to launch a 5at....

I was just power breaking... apply lite gas to 2k rpm or so and hold break at same time...

not sure if i just put it in tiprtronc 1 and just give it gas will be any better

i leave here in a few huors get back to me hahaha

And the other question is should traction control be off?

Power braking at 2K w/ TC OFF works pretty good for me. I still think my auto shifts faster than I do manually so I'd say keep it in D
> nail it and hold that steering wheel. Good luck and, as always, be safe.

if you have it in tiptronic, right before redline, it'll shift for you anyway. it won't redline or bounce off. not sure if there is a power difference though, between auto and tiptronic.

I say put it in Manumatic, it shifts at a higher rpm or u could hold the shifter down so that it actually hits redline, but downside to that is probably by the time you hit redline it will just keep hitting fuel cut for like a second until the car shifts when u let go so might be slower shifts. But yeah, put it in manumatic and let it do its thing.

did u change ur tires btw? the other day i did a practice launch on the stock RSA's, power brake w/TCS off and i spun all the way to 5200 rpm. lol.

yes there is...ive raced someone both of us had 05's one was in D one was in tip and let the car shift for itself....there is quite a diference actually.

The car does NOT shift faster or later in manumatic. I have logged well over 30 runs with different techniques. In fact my two fastest runs where done in D stomping on the gas. I found manumatic and "holding it" had no effects, in fact a few times I bounced rev limit which killed me. Always turn TCS off as it retards timing and will bog you out of the hole. As for power braking I found it much harder to control wheel spin and no benefit in terms of time. Like I said my fastest times where in D and stomping the pedal; also the most consistent.

I run it in tiptronic or whatever that is called. I can maximize my pull and then shift right at/before redline. I don't let it bounce of rev limiter, because it does bog down.

I normally put a load on the vehicle (1K-1.5K rpm) then floor that b!tch in D. Since the car is Dyno tuned with an APEXi, the manumatic does not work so good for me anymore. Of course their are so many other factors to consider, like temp, humidity, elevation, weight of the car, tire pressure, engine heat soaking, and if using street tires, don't wet them, drive around the water pit!!! For weight I take everything out the car, jack, spare tire, drain washer fluid, 1/4 tank of gas, all weight savers. In between runs open the hood right away for faster cool down, ice even may help on the manifold for a faster cool down between runs...

Rhamx: Lacr... its in palmdale ... the elavation is 3000 ft so you ghave to calculate your time by .97 and it give you the accurate run.. I ran a 14.81 ..that time .97 = a 14.3.... the link to the site is

lacr.net

scroll down and around near the bottom and talks about the elavation convertion

this is from the site....

Altitude Correction
LACR is 2,710 ft. above sea level.
To figure the altitude factor the formula is as follows:
ET: multiply your et (at LACR) by .97
MPH: multiply your mph (at LACR) by 1.03
This will give you the ET & MPH at sea level.

14.3 not bad for a 5at with just cai and mufflers...

Once we are done working on the cattman headers and y piep i am hoping to be in high 13's....

I only lost two races last night

1st to a 10 second volks bug that did a wheelie!!!!!!!!!!

and 2nd to a 350 z with nismo exhaust and short ram intake... he ran a 14.6 i ran a 14.8...not bad for a four door he said hahaha i lol at him

I think T/C is standard for all '05s.

Interesting, I thought Nissan made TCS standard for 05's. That means you don't have TCS.

Power brake to 2k or up to a level right below where it feels like the brakes can't hold. On the green, release the brake, but no extra gas. Ease into the gas...ease...ease...punch. The punch should come at that sweet spot. You will get virtually NO wheelspin. And I run my car in tiptronic.

You guys think this thing is hard to launch, try driving a Grand Prix GTP. Once I got the hang of that thing, I was pulling 2.0x and 1.9x 60fts in stock trim...with RS-As.

Nice times, BTW.

I'll give that a try next time. Last time I held at about 1k and feathered the throttle and still spun all the way thru first gear. I have TS ECU with RS-A tires though, so could be a bad combination...

A 60 below 2 would be great. It's quite a feeling to just pull hard out of the hole without spinning.

Although not the best tires, RS-As aren't as bad as people make them out to be. Like I said, I was pulling 1.9x 60fts with RS-As. Still trying to get it right with the Max though.

You're right, plus they are 245 wide. I can get much better traction on the street than at the track that day, although it was windy and a little dusty.
